Nissan's Sentra has always been an affordable high gas mileage car, perfect for students and young professionals. The car is basic but its cheaper then other competitors in its class. The 2005 Sentra 1.8 Has a 4 cylinder engine with 128 hp. It looks beautiful and runs very well. I've had that car since 2005 when it was new and the only things I've had to replace are the tires/brakes/oil/air filter/wiper blades.
Story
I went from Fresno to San Diego one weekend to visit a wedding and it was amazing on the freeway, light and nimble, and a joy to drive.
Pros
Good on gas, living in California this is a big concern due to gas prices being astronomical here. It has a cd player with a jack to connect any mp3 player or smartphone to listen to your tunes without burning new cds.
Cons
The back seats can be cramped for passengers. The drivers seat doesn't retract that far, so if you're pretty big it might be too small for you. The car does have trouble climbing up hill, it just doesn't have the torque to keep pushing at a decent rate. The gas gauge had problems in the past that were corrected.
