In determining the vehicle to purchase, the key factors were long bed, reasonable height off the ground, reasonable price, and longevity. By choosing the 2013 Nissan Frontier SV kingcab truck, I was able to meet all of these goals. Since purchase, the truck has been thoroughly abused, racking up over 130k miles in just under 28 months. The vehicles primary use is moving moderate weight, large furniture such as massage chairs and recliners. Typical loads are 150-600 lbs, and frequently hang over the side of the truck bed or out the back. Car interior has held up stunningly well, and has been commented that it still looks new. Vehicle has been exclusively serviced by the dealer, which has cost more than expected, though the vehicle has never broken down, or had an issue while driving so ... (more)
Story
Thanks to monsoon weather I benefited more than once from this trucks reasonable height off the ground and was able to take an off-road path to avoid a road closure from a fallen tree or other debris.
Pros
Reasonable height off the ground for loading items into the truck bed. High MPG for a truck Reasonable purchase price 130k miles without any major issues and no issues while driving
Cons
Key fob has become unprogrammed twice, first time I was foolish to ask dealer to reprogram, and was charged $90 for this service. Found answer in the car booklet for a 5 minute fix the next time. MPG drops sharply when large loads are carried, sometimes down to 12 MPG Seats become uncomfortable on long trips of 200+ miles Higher off the ground with the SV package, unexpected "upgrade" by dealer for larger tires.

2007 Nissan Frontier - Generally good truck with major engineering flaw

For a mid-size truck, the 2007 Nissan Frontier has adequate power. The strong engine makes getting up to speed off an on-ramp a fun experience. The Frontier offers a generally smooth ride and is a good option for longer commutes. The 6' bed model offers tons of space to haul your gear, but tack that onto a quad cab and you're starting to get a long truck that can be unwieldy to handle in tight parking lots. For the most part the Frontier has been a good truck and fun to drive BUT Nissan created a major problem with their radiator/transmission relationship that will destroy the transmission. For many Frontiers the radiator fluid leaked into the transmission which, if you have any familiarity with transmissions you'll understand, is a terrible thing and will ultimately lead to a new... I love hauling my kayak in the bed of the truck. I have a 6 ft. bed which makes it easy to load and strap it in without worrying about it falling out of the back.
Pros

Cons
Radiator Flaw Transmission Issue Low-tech Dash

Great vehicle for those who wish to have both a truck for work and play. Plenty of space in the Crew Cab version of the Nissan Frontier. Great features on the inside including an option for rear backup cam and navigation installed inside. Bed length at 5 feet is a bit small but gets the job done for your basic do it yourself jobs as well as outdoor activities such as surfing, biking, camping etc. Great gas mileage and nice body style. Perfect for someone who would like a mid sized truck but not looking to over do it. It does lack in the storage side on the inside of the truck, with very little room for tools and other such equipment. A truck box is not a realistic option because of the already smaller size bed. A bed extender or possibly upgrading to a larger bed may be required for th... (more)
