So if you're in the market for a quarter ton, I personally think that you need to look no further than for the Nissan frontier. There are several versions, but for right now I'm going to tell you about the very basic package. This model I have is a bit of an older one, coming from 2004, but 16 years after its manufacture, its still kicking with next to no issues. Like I said, I have the basic model which has a 2.4L 4 banger engine, and a manual transmission, I personally have loved driving stick since I got this bad boy.
Story
Not too long ago, because I live in a hilly part of Texas, and drive a manual transmission, I got to coast in neutral for over 5 miles at or around 40-50 mph. This is a lot more fun than you might imagine.
Pros
So the pros list is quite long. Here are the highlights: the truck is exactly what I needed to work in the field of remodels. You might think that's a strange claim for a quarter ton, but here's what I can say, generally, when I'm doing remodels, I don't need to haul anything over 500 pounds. Second of all, maintenance on this little guy is a cinch, there isn't a serpentine belt and instead there are 3 v-belts tied to the crank shaft and those 3 control all the major components such as power steering, the water pump, the alternator, etc. Fixing her up if there's an issue isn't an exercise ... Cons
There are some drawbacks for some, not for me, but for some. Thing is, the truck is small, but it's a quarter ton, so you got to know what you're getting into if you're looking at this type of vehicle. There isn't room really but for 2 people in the cab of the truck, and if you're two big fellas over 6 feet tall and 250 lbs. plus, its going to feel even more cramped. Also, the fact that its a 2.4L 4 cyl engine means that you have next to no torque. The power of this vehicle should be considered alongside a sedan of similar engine, maybe a bit less because you're going to be carrying extra ... (more)

The fact that they did not recall the radiator hose into the transmission was a real bummer. We lost our transmission and had to have it replaced, and it should have been a total recall by the company. The CD player is broken, and I will need to replace with an aftermarket one, when I have the money to do it. The seating is very roomy; we have a family of five and are quite comfortable. The truck bed has a good amount of room to haul some things. The seats are comfortable, and it rides nice. There is a lot of cargo room in the cab. The moon roof is a great feature, and we love it. There are two glove boxes, and I like that feature. The cab heats up very quick and cools down even quicker. The body seems to be rusting a little too quickly, but we do live in a northeastern state with a lo... (more)
Story
My husband was able to get me to the hospital safely, and quickly, so we could deliver our third child.
Pros
Four-wheel drive. Moon roof. Rhino lining. Crew cab.
Cons
No recall on radiator hose issue. Turning radius. Junk CD player.
