2000 Nissan Frontier - Well, it's a truck.
The 2000 Nissan Frontier EX with the four-cylinder engine is a noisy, under-powered, uncomfortable mess. The lack of acceleration is startling; it often struggles to get to highway speeds on the on-ramp and appears to be very taxed while traveling on freeways. Once you have reached a speed that allows you to avoid being run off the road, the wind noise is deafening. Coupled with the laughably incompetent factory stereo, most commutes are not enjoyable to say the least. The interior is cramped and uncomfortable, even with the extended cab. Leg room and headroom are almost non-existent. For some reason, Nissan decided to make the front seat a 60/40 split bench with a quasi-solid back. Which, of course, means it is impossible to reach into the "back seat" area from the front. The jump sea... (more)
Story
While painting my house, I drove this truck around the outside and set the ladder up in the bed. It's easier to level a ladder on a relatively stable truck bed than it is to do it on dirt.
Pros
It has a truck bed. It is a true body on frame construction, unlike some of the newer uni-body car based pickups.
Cons
The lack of power and the poorly designed interior.
2000 Nissan Frontier - Good small truck.
This truck always drove very well, although there are a couple mechanical issues. First and mainly, there is an issue regarding the starting of the truck when hot, and after taking it to many different service stations, I still have yet to find someone that knows how to fix it. It does not affect performance at all; it is just an inconvenience. Overall though, this truck is a great truck, and I would be very likely to recommend it to someone in search of a truck.
Story
The main memory I have with this truck is driving around my hometown with my girlfriend and knowing that it was never too big of a truck and was very comfortable to drive.
Pros
This truck accelerates quite quickly, and if well maintained, is a very well and easy to keep truck. The steering is quite tight and responsive but also loose enough to not jerk and allow for comfortable driving. Specially, the truck allows for quite a good amount of storage but also not too much to where it becomes burdensome or empty.
Cons
The main negatives I would have for this truck are that it is very difficult to maintain as well as difficult to troubleshoot. The engine has many components that are difficult to access/remove as well as the aforementioned starting issue.
