2010 Toyota 4Runner - Pretty good SUV
Seems well built, haven't had any problems with it.
Has been very dependable.
Can carry a good load and several people.
One negative is that the back up camera is sporadic and is a $400 replace.
Story
Yesterday a friend said that I didn't have to worry about the roads here in Patagonia because "he drives a tank".
Pros
Dependable, great 4x4 controls in Trail version.
Good ground clearance. Pretty good gas mileage for an SUV.
Good paint. I really like the headlights and rarely feel a need for off road lights.
Cons
The turning radius is pitiful for something that's supposed to be off-road capable. It's worst feature.
Changing the oil is very involved as well. I must put it on ramps, unbolt 2 different plates underneath and only then can I get to the oil filter. To open the filter cartridge you have to use a special wrench which I had to order. Not cool.
Luggage rack flexes.
2010 Toyota 4Runner - Unmatched Reliability
The Toyota Rav4 is one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned. I have only had to pay for basic vehicle maintenance such as oil changes and tires. The interior trim in the Base model is of average quality but the controls (knobs/buttons) have all stood up well with the exception of the AUX port. The cup holders are my major complaint in their position under an overhanging console and in front of a power port. The vehicle suspension rides very much like a SUV - it's pretty bouncy and it took me a while to get over the motion sickness while driving.
Story
I don't (thankfully) have many memorable stories using this vehicle in my area because it so reliably gets me from point A to B. In fact, I've never (knock on wood) been disappointed by my car. this is the only kind of memorable story that might come from driving to and from work (which is all I do in my home town). However, I have driven across this country and back again 6 times in this car.... (more)
Pros
Reliability, easy to clean, full sized spare on the outside of the vehicle not taking up interior storage.
Cons
Interior design: orientation of power port in relation to the cup holders and center console
Really bouncy suspension, rough running when stopped at a stop sign.
