I love this car. It still maintain good for years. So sad it was discontinued in 2008.
Story
I used my Solara to work and hang out with my friends. Sometimes my dad drives it (my family own one policies). His coworker say it is contemporary.
Cons
Only two doors, not suitable to family with children.

I bought the 2003 Solara used with only 40000 miles. The trim on the interior was very high end looking with the wood style inlays on the dashboard. The stereo system was mediocre, so I changed that out quickly. I also upgraded the headlamp bulbs to brighter ones. The car had fog lights which worked very well. The car drove great, was very smooth ride and had plenty of power. The suspension was right in the middle of a sporty feel. The brakes worked very well and lasted long, never having any problems with them. I made sure to perform all of the scheduled maintenance and change the oil every 3000 miles with quality oil. At around 90000 miles, I started getting a check engine light. I tried to diagnose the problem, it was an Air/Fuel ratio sensor problem. I replaced the sensor and all ... (more)
Pros
The car was very stylish, it looked like a very sporty vehicle. I also liked that it does not resemble the "Camry" family car look. Even though this is a 2 door, the rear seats had fairly goo leg room. the engine got very good gas mileage, but still had ample power. the speakers were very good sound quality when upgrading the head unit. The drive was very smooth with a sporty suspension. It was a lot of fun to drive this car on windy roads on the weekend. The seats were very comfortable and were still very solid when I sold the car. The interior held up very well overall. The carpet did no... (more)
Cons
There is a blind spot that I never really liked in the rear view mirror so you have to be careful and weary about it. The engine could have used a little bit more horsepower. The brakes could be more powerful. The engine has some headaches with the air fuel ratio sensors. These are more expensive to replace then standard oxygen sensors. I spent nearly five hundred dollars on two air to fuel ratio sensors. The repairs can be costly overall. The head unit in dash for the stereo could have been much better. When I upgraded the head unit it really brought the cars speakers to life. I would hig... (more)
