We purchased our Toyota Camry when we were getting ready to have kids. We've never been van or SUV people, so we needed a full-size sedan. We drove many, many cars on the market, and were left cold. Most of them felt like they were too modern, meaning that they tried to cram in gizmos or stylistic things that were flashy, but ultimately not functional. We loved the Camry from the moment we got in it. It is roomy without being a land yacht. It can easily accommodate us, and two car seats, with room to spare for our residential cleaning business supplies (mops, vacuums, step ladders and the like) due to extremely roomy trunk. Pros
It is very roomy. It fits our family very well. It's a good, basic car. It's very reliable.
Cons
The gas mileage isn't as good as in our compact cars.

This is my very first Toyota and to say I'm impressed is an understatement. I expected the gas mileage to be quite a lot worse considering the size. I was pleasantly surprised when I got 24 MPG. And I had heard all sorts of things about how much more expensive foreign cars were to repair. While I've had make some repairs, they weren't that expensive. Neither were there a lot of them. The car is comfortable and fun to drive.
Story
One memorable story I had is that I was taking the back roads on the way home. I lived about an hour from my job, but by this time, I had gotten used to and looked forward to the commute home. It was late at nigh when I came across a police cruiser parked by a fire hose stretched across the road. With a smaller car, I would have had to turn around and find another route. Pros
Great gas mileage. I get an average of 23 MPG. Good acceleration. While this is not a sports car, it's very easy to pull out onto a highway. Great handling. For the size and price of this car, it handles quite well. Cheap to maintain. Maintenance is very cheap for this car, and it has required few repairs. Roomy interior. You don't get the feeling of being inside a small box while traveling in this vehicle. Roomy trunk. You can fit a couple of suit cases or more than a weeks full of groceries in the trunk. Cons
There aren't a lot of performance parts available for this vehicle. So if you're purchasing it with the intension of turning it into a race car, you will be disappointed. But on the other had, there are quite a few after market parts available to change the looks and styling of the vehicle.
