Initially I thought the FJ Cruiser was a funny looking SUV, but now that I've had it and it runs so well, I love the way it looks as a vehicle. I'm able to go anywhere and handle any type of weather due to the great four-wheel drive feature. I've also been in crazy traffic and was able to go over a rocky dirt road to avoid sitting in traffic with everyone else. I bet those people wished they had my FJ Cruiser when I sped off and left them to sit there for an hour. It also has a lot of power. I love how I never worry getting onto a highway. I can speed up and get on with no trouble. It's also a solid car. I never have maintenance issues or have any breakdowns. I got this SUV when it was only seven years old! You would think I would have to do a lot of maintenance but I don't. That's al... (more)
Story
We were stuck on this two lane highway surrounded by rocks and dirt, and we were sitting in traffic. My husband decided he didn't want to sit in traffic anymore and turned off the highway and went off roading. We left all those people behind sitting in traffic. It was definitely a lot of fun.
Pros
Reliability. Horse power. Four-wheel drive. Lots of cargo space.
Cons
It has suicide doors so people sitting in the back cannot let themselves out. It has pretty large blind spot because of the way the windows are. The gas mileage isn't that great. I feel like on long trips I've filling up the tank a lot.

I love the ruggedness of the vehicle and the ability to take it anywhere. There is no carpet on the interior which means when I'm home from being out on the trail, it allows me the ability to rinse the floor out with a hose. The available aftermarket accessories make this vehicle easy to customize for off-road trails and overlanding. It's compact enough but large enough to accommodate my needs. The dials and buttons on the dash are large so it makes it easy to use while wearing gloves.
Story
A few weeks ago I decided to head up to Northern Arizona to camp for a few days. When I arrived I found it to be smoky from a forest fire and there were a ton of mosquitoes. It make for a very unpleasant first night. The next day I got the idea to just keep heading up north to Durango, CO. It wasn't that much farther from where I was so, why not?! I camped one night there, it was beautiful! I ... (more)
Pros
I love the four wheel drive, the capability features for off-roading and it's unique look.
Cons
I have only found two caveats. The blind spots from the B pillar which you can avoid by backing into or pulling though on parking spaces and adding a convex mirror to the side mirrors. The other being the poor gas mileage because it is so boxy and the gas tank is rather small.
