My wife and I had recently had our third child and needed to find a larger vehicle for our needs. We transitioned from a 2014 Toyota RAV4 XLE model to a 2009 Highlander Hybrid Limited. I am familiar with Hybrid technology so it didn't scare me like some other people. The passenger space was nice, and the ride was smooth and quiet. The fuel economy was better than average. Has nice acceleration and braking ability.
Story
Playing Pokemon Go in our neighborhood running just the electric engine completely silent was enjoyable.
Pros
The Hybrid battery added extra weight to the vehicle, making the ride much smoother than I expected. When driven properly, the Hybrid system allowed for excellent fuel economy, even getting 60 mpg+ depending on circumstances. The second row was spacious enough to hold two car seats and a booster seat. The JBL sound system in the Limited sounds amazing.
Cons
The biggest complaint about the vehicle is the lack of cargo room with the third row up. VERY small. I would recommend getting cargo carrying accessories to attach to the roof, in that case. Also, occasionally when the gas engine turns on, it can sound a little rough and shake the vehicle slightly.

I have driven my Highlander for several years now. It is one of the best cars I have ever owned. I love all the features and how comfortable it is. It gets great gas mileage, both in town and on the highway. We have taken it on road trips of 12-plus hours on several occasions, and it fit everyone comfortably. The only thing I dislike about it is the lack of storage space when the third row seating is lifted.
Story
My oldest son is in school, but my two youngest are not. Oftentimes, I will take my two youngest to my son's school an hour before pickup time. They typically fall asleep in that time, and the car burns so little gas and stays so quiet that we can sit in the car line comfortable for an hour.
Pros
It's quiet. It gets excellent gas mileage. Very comfortable ride.
Cons
No storage when the third row is lifted.
