The Toyota Highlander is a great family vehicle, providing a comfortable ride with plenty of storage. The vehicle itself is slightly wider than most, creating a spacious feeling - even with multiple carseats. The third-row fold-down seating has a split-bench, which offers flexibility for transporting luggage and larger items. The Highlander handles well in winter weather, and gets decent fuel economy. The steering is tight, and overall the Highlander has good maneuverability for vehicles in its class. It has hidden sensors that allow the driver to avoid collisions and parallel park.
Story
We took a 2000 mile roadtrip in the Highlander, driving west to the national parks... right after we had potty-trained the oldest. My kids had a great time, but part of the trip was through desolate areas with not many rest stops. We had plenty of space to keep a cooler, so the kids had plenty of snacks but not many opportunities for using the restroom. Luckily we had packed a children's potty... (more)
Pros
I love the versatility of the second row, as well as the storage capacity with the third row folded down. The separate climate control for the second row is a valuable feature for longer trips. It's an excellent "mom" SUV, big enough to haul kids in car seats, groceries, and a stroller, but not so big that it wouldn't fit into the garage or a standard parking space. The center console is huge, and can easily hold a large purse or even a large diaper bag. There are tons of cupholders in this vehicle - 10, to be exact - allowing a place for both coffee and water bottles! The driver feedback ... (more)
Cons
The third row seating option can be tight for adults to access, particularly for fastening children into car seats. The regenerative braking initially felt soft, and takes some getting used to.

When I bought this car, one of the main reasons was the peace inside the closed windows. It's so smooth to drive that you will enjoy driving rather than feeling tired of driving. It's got quality tires for jungle-area driving. It has a strong body. It has neat interiors.
Story
I went to a remote place where there is a jungle. We try to take the car to places which are usually not recommended for driving cars. We enjoy the drive and its challenges. The tires were completely supportive. We enjoyed it.
Pros
Interior quality. Strong body. Durable tires. Excellent comfort in seating. Air conditioner.
Cons
Felt uncomfortable in short daily trips driving, was a not enjoyable thing. Gas consumption in short trips is higher. Driving on narrow jungle roads is difficult.
