2010 Toyota Venza - It has been dependable, and I enjoy the interior a lot, but I don't like the way that it handles.

I love the car's styling. Even after 4 years, I still find it appealing. The interior is especially pretty. I was told that it was styled after the interior of a Lexus. Whether that's actually true or not, I don't know. The look of the car is what initially drew me to it. I'd originally gone to the dealership to test drive a Highlander, but saw the Venzas in the lot and they caught my interest instead. It's a very comfortable car. I had always previously driven sporty sedans and wanted something that was a smoother ride and was higher off the ground. The Venza is moderately smooth, and I enjoy that about it. The car has tons of room. I have never felt that it was too small for my family's needs. Sometimes I notice noises when the steering shaft when I turn the wheel. It is unexplained ... (more)
Pros
The space in the car is often one of the first things that friends comment on when they ride in our vehicle. The trunk is already very large, and on top of that, the back seats fold down to provide additional space. The front and rear passenger seating space is ample. The dashboard of the vehicle is designed in such a way that it makes the front of the vehicle feel very "open".
Cons
There are several blind spots in the Venza. This is one of the main complaints about it. I am used to the vehicle now, so it doesn't bother me as much, but because of the way that the windows are streamlined, I have to be very careful when I am merging on multiple-lane highways and/or interstates. The car does not perform as well as I would like, but I am biased because I used to drive cars like Audi, Saab, and BMW. So compared to those brands, the Toyota Venza does not handle nearly as well. It is bulky and unresponsive and often sways on turns. Still, it is fun to drive.

It drives very smooth. Its V6 had great acceleration. The cabin is very comfortable for a tall guy such as myself. It's a lower profile car that I'm used to, but I feel safe and visible. I found it to be an excellent value for its year and mileage.
Story
Driving down the Columbia Gorge used to be a chore in my old van. With the Venza it was a super quick and easy trip. It makes the long trips much easier.
Pros
Top positive would be the engine. I really like having the power to take hills and pass on the freeway. Combined with the car is the handling of the vehicle. I always feels in control. It's a quiet and smooth ride. It's got a roomy back seat that would comfortably fit two grown adults, and the rear has ample storage space. The dual moonroofs are kind of nice as well.
Cons
The only negative aspects I can say are that I wish it had better gas mileage. It averages 22 mpg, which isn't bad, but 24 or 26 would be preferable. The dash display is a bit useless with the GPS and audio options clunky and cumbersome. The tires that came with the car are pricey. When the time comes, it will take about two grand to replace them. The sun can cook the car a bit while it's parked. I'm usually running the A/C or cracking window soon after getting in.
