The Acura TL has been the most dependable car I have ever owned. It hasn't had a single big failure, and has only required the standard maintenance. The gas mileage is terrific. The car is very quick for a V6, and it rides like a bigger luxury car. The Bose sound system is amazing, with the best bass of any car. The leather seats are very durable, and they have maintained their color without fading. It also has a great A/C.
Story
My favorite memory of this car was giving it to my son for his first car. He loves it! He keeps the inside clean as an operating room, and takes it for a wash every week. It makes me very happy to see him take ownership of this car.
Pros
1. Dependability - I have spent nothing on this car beyond the standard maintenance. 2. Luxurious - The leather seats, Bose sound system, quiet ride, and powerful engine make this car feel very luxurious. 3. Durability - The car has over 220,000 miles now and it has performed well and aged well. 4. Low cost of ownership - This car costs very little to maintain, as it hasn't broken down. The biggest costs come with the timing belt maintenance every 100,000 miles.
Cons
The only negative is the cost of the timing belt maintenance that comes with all Honda and Toyota products. It happens every 100,000 miles. But if you follow the maintenance schedule, it still costs much less than other cars because of its dependability and durability.

2003 Acura TL - I highly recommend my 2003 Acura TL

My 2003 Acura TL currently has 185,000 miles on the odometer, and it runs like a champ. The exterior quality is fantastic. The paint has yet to chip, even in areas that are subject to debris (like wheel wells, front bumpers, etc.). The interior looks just as great as the exterior. The leather seats have no tears and the seats are still very comfortable. All of the interior components (power seats, door locks, radio knobs, etc.) still function and have never been replaced. The dash is not faded. All the parts are solid and do not buzz at all. The engine runs flawlessly. No rattles, no unusual sounds. When I press the accelerator, the car goes without any trouble. Gas mileage is decent. I am an aggressive driver and average 22 MPG combined (mostly city driving). However, with calm highwa... (more)
Story
I took this to a local track to do 0-60 test. I managed to do a 6.00 second 0-60 time.
Pros
I like the horsepower of the car. It has roughly 225 hp, so it can accelerate quickly to make merging a breeze. However, it's not so much power that MPG suffers. Mechanically, the car is very reliable. I've owned the car for six years and the only major problems I needed to fix were a couple leaks and replace the ball joints at 150,000 miles. It drives like a performance sedan should. The suspension is stiff enough to be nimble around corners, but not so stiff that it's unpleasant. The steering is very precise and gives good feedback from the road. It's fun to drive fast through corners an... (more)
Cons
Although the car is reliable, when something does break, it's often expensive. For instance, when the ball joints needed replacement, it was a $1,400 repair. Fixing a leak in the power steering pump was $400. I was quoted $175 for replacing a burnt out headlight and did it myself for only $24. Often, when making major repairs, the only place that has the proper tools will be the Acura dealership. Other garages will not be able to work on it (depending on the issue). You are better off doing minor maintenance yourself as Acura charges a premium for being a "luxury brand". The worst part is ... (more)
