I first decided that I wanted an E46 M3 in my teens when a family friend purchased one. The car looks elegant and sleek, but driving it reveals a different character. It has raw power, delivering acceleration linearly and precisely. The feeling of pressing the pedal down and sinking into the driver's seat is one that constantly reaffirms my purchase. I have not yet had any major mechanical issues with the car. However, I am aware of a few that may be coming soon. I spend a fair amount on preventive maintenance, but I knew this would be the case and I have overall accepted this fact. I do dislike its low gas mileage and type of transmission. In regards to the first, I have found that my morning commute does not really allow me to use the car as it was designed, meaning that I can't drive with spirit. A more fuel efficient car would definitely be more practical in this case. Secondly, I have an SMG transmission which is a single clutch automatic. I would rather have a pure manual.
