I purchased this for my son because he wanted a foreign car that was a status symbol. The car was not a new car, but it had no issues when we purchased it. We like the sleek design and the built-in navigation system. The car sits really low to the ground, which was not an issue with my son, but I personally do not like it. It feels unsafe to drive because it sits so low down. The car goes really fast, and it has good pick up.
Story
I would have to say the first time that my son drove his car to school all of his friends were curious as to how he obtained it since there is no BMW dealership in the area. Everyone came running over thinking he won on a scratch ticket since they assumed the car must have cost a lot.
Pros
My favorite features are the screen in the middle of the console and the cool way to play with the radio. I also like to design of the body. It is small and sporty looking. It also seems to get pretty good gas mileage.
Cons
We have had a few issues with the electronic system, and since we do not have A BMW dealer in our area, we cannot get it fixed or reset. We have to drive it over two hours away to get the issue fixed. We also have had to replace a headlight, which cost a ridiculous amount because it had to be a special light. Fixing the light cost almost as much as buying a used older vehicle. Ouch!

Overall, we have been pleased with this vehicle. The ride is as smooth as any car I have owned and the gas mileage is fantastic (18-20 town and 25-30 highway). We have utilized the 4WD on more than one occasion. We bought this used and have had all the maintenance performed at a local shop instead of the dealership which has helped cut down on costs.
Story
We have taken this on may baseball road games and there is always enough room without the kids getting fussy. We have taken it on vacation and packed enough in the rear for a weeks worth of luggage.
Pros
Spacious inside and plenty of cargo room. We are a family of three and my son plays baseball which means we are usually carpooling several kids and there is room for three in the back and all their equipment. It gets gas mileage similar to a car so that is a benefit as well.
Cons
Parts are still expensive, we have maintenance done at a local shop but OEM BMW parts are still expensive. The 6 cylinder engine is sometimes a little quick to react.
