We live in a city with great public transportation so did not originally expect to own a car. If we did, we knew it would have to be small and able to be parked on the street (parking is too expensive). This made me resistant to a BMW since it is a premium brand but once I test drove this car I felt the difference and decided it was worth it since typically we use the car for multiple hour long drives with our family to visit relatives out of state. One of the first trips I took had my twin 1 year olds in their car seats in the back and we encountered an ice storm. I was not expecting this sudden change in weather and while on the highway despite the obviously slick roads I could feel the connection the car had with the road. A few cars ahead of us skidded off the road but we made it ... (more)
Story
My family was moving 2 blocks and while we knew we needed a moving company for things like the couch, mattresses, etc. we knew we could reduce the cost by packing as much as possible into our car and making multiple trips. We jammed 2 adults and 2 children's complete wardrobes into our BMW with just enough room for a driver at one time. For a Sedan it is surprisingly spacious!
Pros
The control and stability the vehicle has on the road. It is a comfortable driving experience while I still feel connected to the road. Overall being a BMW customer means I get an amazing customer experience with the dealership.
Cons
The backseat is Sedan size so I can't fit 3 car seats, or 2 car seats and a passenger. The cup holders are horrible -- this is something they replaced in newer models and seems silly but they are just absolutely horrible.

My x3 has to be one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. It's a great commuter as well as a great vehicle for getting out on the weekends. I'm an avid fly fisherman, and it's so easy to toss everything in the back and head out to the stream to drop a line in the water.
Story
I have the winter package on my vehicle, even though I live in a pretty mild area. There was one time that I hit a patch of ice, and I was really glad that the x3 took over the power to the wheels and pulled me out of it. In another car, I'm not sure what would have happened.
Pros
The trunk space is excellent as well as the performance of the vehicle. I've never had an issue with space and ability no matter what I'm going. If it's going camping with the kids or just tossing some poles in the back to go fishing with the guys, the x3 has always done everything I've needed. I also really like the climate controls features on the middle vents. I hate it in the winter when the heater is running in your car and you're getting blasted in the face with hot, dry air. In the x3, there's an adjustment so that you can have the heater running but cooler air blowing on your face.
Cons
I really don't have much bad to say about the x3. The only thing I would gripe about is some of the repair costs at the dealership. Brakes and tires can get a bit expensive.
