Love it! Everything I need
This car seats 6 people although when it is full there is very little trunk space. The middle row consists of two bucket seats with a rest in between. The rest can be folded into the seat to allow more room for a bag or something in between the two seats. I usually get 25-28 mpg in the city and 30-35 on the highway.

Perfect family vehicle
This minivan is the perfect size for my family. It seats six people and the bench seat in the back folds down to allow for more trunk space. Another thing we enjoy is that four of the seats are bucket seats, which allows for less arguing among our children. Everyone has plenty of leg room, arm rests and cup holders. Also, this vehicle has given me the best gas mileage out of all of the vehicles I have owned in the past. On one tank of gas we can travel for a little under 400 miles as opposed to the 250 miles in our last car.

Budget Microvan with some serious flaws
We bought the Mazda5 brand new when we learned that we were expecting our 2nd child. We wanted a larger vehicle, but we also wanted to maintain fuel economy. I've owned a number of Mazdas over the years, and I consider myself fairly loyal to the brand. I like Mazda's emphasis on performance and drive-ability. The 5 is sporty enough that it stands out in its small sector. It is fairly roomy with plenty of space in the front two rows even for tallish men (I'm 5'10"). The third row however is only fit for tiny people, think 7 year olds or smaller. It drives all right. It's not nearly as fun to drive as the Mazda3 which I've previously owned. It does have the larger 2.3 L engine that the faster 3s possessed. It has plenty of power to merge on the highway. Now for the bad. The sliding doors on our three stopped locking within two years. Using either the clicker or the door button, they simply wouldn't lock. Our Mazda dealership changed some parts twice, but they never fixed it. We gave up on it, and just accepted that we'd have to lock manually. The low profile tires on our 5 wore down at an alarming rate. We've only put 70,000 miles on our 5 in over 7 years of driving, and I've put at least 4 full sets of tires on that car. Plus they are really expensive. It is really loud on the highway. You cannot hold a normal conversation at highway speed. The car is just too loud. Also like many Mazda's but even worse, this car is not meant for comfort. I don't demand lazy-boy comfort from my cars. We don't drive that much, but the 5 is especially uncomfortable. The seats are just too firm for hours of sitting.
