I had the need to buy an SUV with an increasing family size. When going to the dealership, I left my options open. My wife and I stumbled across a 2007 GMC Yukon and fell in love. The vehicle is large enough for a moderate size family, yet still provides the amenities of a luxury SUV. The ride is as smooth as can be expected for a large SUV. The Yukon came with a flip down dvd player, which makes long trips with the younger children much more tolerable.
Story
One year, I took the Yukon on a fishing trip in central Kansas. It had just rained and I was looking for new fishing spots. I had never been to the area I was searching in. I came upon a path off-road that I figured would lead to water. About a half mile down the trail the path turned to mud and led into a large hole filled with water. Somehow I ended up in the hole. I was certain that I would... (more)
Pros
There were several features that attracted me to the GMC Yukon. The first being the fact that it is four wheel drive. This was a must for the harsh winters. The next feature that was a plus was the fact that the vehicle has heated seats and dual ac/heat settings. This allows the driver and passengers to choose the setting that comforts them. With a spacious cargo area and roof racks, we were able to haul anything that we had the need to. The towing capacity of the Yukon was also adequate enough for our hauling needs.
Cons
The one major setback with the Yukon would be the gas mileage. It is poor. However, this is to be expected with any large SUV.

Our 2007 GMC Yukon Denali has been everything I expect in a vehicle. The interior has cushy leather seats, woodgrain trim, and chrome-trimmed gauges to finish the accenting. 3rd row seating provides plenty of room and the rear entertainment center gives riders a great show during travels. Motor is large and provides nearly 400hp through a 6-speed automatic transmission, from there it passes through an AWD transfer case and provides great traction at all corners.
Story
Drove it up Pikes Peak in Colorado, loved that I was able to us the engine braking feature (Tow\Haul mode) and keep an eye on the transmission temperature in the dash to monitor the fluid situation.
Pros
Spacious, comfortable interior. Sleek, chrome trimmed exterior. Powerful drivetrain that has stood the test of time and reliability. Smooth handling for an SUV this size.
Cons
Fuel mileage is 14 MPG in town and 16 MPG on the highway, but that is to be expected with a full-size SUV and a 6.2L V8.
