2008 Jeep Patriot - Overall a reliable vehicle
I've had my Jeep Patriot for almost 8 years now, and I can confidently say that this is a reliable, dependable, overall very efficient vehicle and I would highly recommend it for many people looking for a more practical vehicle for work, friends and family life. Throughout my ownership, the problems I've had with the Patriot have been very minimal. It is not a flashy, incredibly fast vehicle or a powerful beast of a vehicle, but it is, I feel, a sensible and grounded choice in the long term. It is great for large groups of passengers, up to 4 not including the driver, with still more room to store various cargo. Groceries, sports equipment, luggage, etc. The Patriot has better than average gas mileage than standard cars, trucks and SUVs, especially if you live in the city. And it also ... (more)

And it also handles well in the rain and snow. If you prefer your vehicle with the latest electronic gadgets, then you might be disappointed, as it has no automatic locks or windows. All in all, the Jeep Patriot comes highly recommended.

I find the pros of the Jeep Patriot to be plentiful. To start, it's a very solid, sturdy vehicle. It's build is strong enough that despite being in a few accidents involving other vehicles and animals, the Patriot has never had any serious lasting damage done to it. Its four wheel drive is reliable in all varying types of weather, including heavy rain, sleet and snow. As for gas mileage, it is a definite plus. To fill up a full tank from empty, it only requires thirty dollars with moderate gas prices. You can drive for several hours before needing to fill up again. As for the interior feat... (more)

As for the interior features, it has much to offer. You can safely fill the Patriot with up to four other passengers, so it is ideal for long road trips. It also has a moderately sized space in the back for storing various items. It can hold an ample amount of groceries, sporting and gym equipment and luggage. The patriot also has a very good sound system with multiple choices to tweak and tune your music.
There are a few features and lack of features of the Jeep Patriot that may make potential buyers wary of purchasing a Patriot. It does not have automatic locks or windows. Most newer vehicles have automatic lock and window buttons, so this may turn some away. This particular model also does not have locks on the rear doors, thus only being able to unlock and lock the rear doors through the front, which can be a hassle if one is in a rush. If one is looking for a car with speed and heavy duty power, this is not the vehicle of choice for them. Its speed is moderate and it takes a good while ... (more)

If one is looking for a car with speed and heavy duty power, this is not the vehicle of choice for them. Its speed is moderate and it takes a good while to get up to higher speeds, and while it is sturdy, it cannot haul large accessories very well, like standard trailers or for moving furniture. Another point of contention is the heat and air system. It does not have good enough range to properly cover the driver and passengers in cool or warm air completely. If these are hindrances for you, don't get the Patriot.
2008 Jeep Patriot - Good mpg but not enough room
This Jeep Patriot has been a good vehicle for me. I did not have a lot of options when trying to get out from under my previous vehicle, and the rebates on the Patriot were really good.,

I added aftermarket roof rack bars to mine since it didn't come with it. They were very easy to install. We love to haul our kayaks and our canoe on the car when making a last-minute escape to the nearby creek for some R&R.

The price of the vehicle was outstanding and well worth every penny. I bought this vehicle new and it is not 7 years old and still running like a champ.

About 3 years after I bought the Patriot, we decided to have a baby. The Jeep Patriot is not a great vehicle for infant car seats. There is not near enough room in the back seat to put a car seat in correctly. The only way I could get the infant carrier seat in is to put it in the middle where it would if in between the 2 front seats. If the case of an accident, there would be no room for the car seat to adjust at all. Once my daughter was able to be in a forward-facing seat, there was no issue.

A few years later, my second daughter came along, and in order to fit her seat in the back rear-facing in addition to my first daughter's seat, I had to put them both on the outside of the seat by the doors and scoot the front seat way up to fit it in. There is no way to safely put 2 car seats in side by side in this vehicle.
