When it came time for me to purchase my Jeep Patriot, I knew I wanted a smaller SUV but one that still had four-wheel drive as well. This was the perfect vehicle for me at the time because it had excellent fuel economy and plenty of space to store everything I needed to in it. Also, if I'm being honest, I also loved the prestige that comes with being a Jeep owner.
Story
I went to go visit family out in the southeastern part of Missouri. We were out driving on some rural roads in the Shawnee National Forest, and the road we were traveling on suddenly was washed out. In order to get to the other side of the road, we had to pretty much four-wheel drive it though the mud and washed out road to get to the other side. I was a little nervous, but the Jeep handled it... (more)
Pros
I would say the Jeep Patriot is one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs out there. I get about 25 mpg with it, and with a four-cylinder engine, it still has the little zip around speed of a car. The ability to store almost anything I need to is great as well. Lastly, the four-wheel drive has always served me well. I've trekked through snow and ice with it and gone off roading in national forests.
Cons
The cons started to show up after about four years of me owning it. Firstly, I had a child, and the back seat is not enough space to fit a car seat without having one of the front seats pushed up very far. Also, with a convertible car seat, you can't install it in the middle, which is the safest place for it. I've had a few problems with different sensors going out and having to replace them as well. Also, a small con but the back glass does not open. So you can't have the back gate closed and the window open if you're carrying something large. This can be a pain at times.

2012 Jeep Patriot - I have enjoyed owning my Jeep Patriot.

I am very pleased with my Jeep Patriot Latitude. I have found that it is a very roomy vehicle with lots of storage space. I have fit a whole deep freezer in it! It is a smooth car to drive; and for me personally, it has very few blind spots. My child's car seat and now convertible car seat both fit great and are easy to install with the LATCH connectors. I am very pleased with how well my cloth interior has held up. The fabric tends to hold dog hair, but dirt comes off really easily.
Story
I drove my Jeep Patriot through the Atlanta 2014 Snowpocalipse, and it did great. It never had any issues with traction, I felt very safe, and it handled great. I had never driven on snow/ice before, and it did very well.
Pros
One of the main reasons I picked this car was because the back window set up is so that there were limited blind spots. I really like how well I can see out of it. I also think that the seats are very comfortable. The LATCH connectors in the back seat are easily accessible, making installing car seats very easy. The interior is very roomy, it is amazing how much storage space there is during road trips.
Cons
A few plastic pieces on the sides of my seats have come loose and therefore tend to snag clothing when you are getting in and out of the car. The backseat is not the most comfortable because it is rather short and not contoured. The leg room for the backseat is also really tight, but where you put your feet is deep so it is a trade out. The fabric holds dog hair, so I have had to put a cover over the seat when my dog is with me.
