The car gets good gas mileage and is a reliable and safe family vehicle. I am amazed at how much stuff I can fit in the car despite its outwardly small look and frame. Good value for a good family car that gets point A to B.
Story
Road tripping across the west coast!
Pros
Good gas mileage, comfortable, modern car that is cheap and reliable.
Cons
Not enough horsepower.

It's a car with a lot of personality but is also pretty practical. It's got a good size and sometimes can feel even too big. The Plus is a good trim. It can get you up to speed fast and is easy on the gas mileage. The car moves pretty well for its somewhat clunky size, and the "Hamster Car" jokes die off after a while. Initially, upon my purchase, I was worried about the lack of an impressive branded stereo system, but I've been more than satisfied with how music and podcasts sound in there. The UVO that Kia provides is useless. It never works, and I never can use it when I would like to, but the Bluetooth and satellite radio works, so it makes up for it. I have the base plus model, so while the interior design could have been better (i.e. more expensive looking), you do get a lot of b... (more)
Story
While I don't have one story in particular, my car is still so young. I can park anywhere nowadays. I went from constantly hitting cars while parallel parking to perfecting every parking job—thanks to the size of the Soul and my happy back-up cam.
Pros
The design and size, both inside and out, are admirable and really grew on me. It makes parking a breeze - I enjoy the back-up camera- while also being able to fit tons of IKEA's boxed furniture in the back. It's tall enough to get rid of that 'on the road' feeling and feels like an SUV at times. It's the best of what crossover vehicles have to offer. It encourages a productive use of space with its nooks and crannies, and while the entertainment capabilities aren't perfect, they are a godsend on long commutes. Oh and the price? Can't beat it. You get so much for what you pay for.
Cons
The interior is cheap, very plastic-y, and the cloth seats are not stain resistant. You have to be quick with cleaning. The exterior has a few plastic parts, the bumper for example got cracked when trying to shovel snow around it, and that was within the first year of owning it. The UVO system is worthless, don't waste your time trying to set it up or use it, and don't let the dealer try to convince you it's hot deal.
