I like my Mercury Sable. It's nothing flashy, doesn't have a ton of speed under the hood even with a V6 engine and the body panels are beginning to rust. But it's kept on running for over a decade. I've done many self repairs on the vehicle, for some reason the HVAC parts seem to have the most failures along with some ignition starting issues. The engine itself however is a trooper, it's never given me a problem even without changing the oil once for close to 10,000 miles. There is now a rusted hole under the interior lining on the front passenger side seatwell, but that is nothing a sheet of steel and some JB Weld can't fix.
Story
My family and I once traveled all the way to Disney World from Michigan driving this car. The journey itself was rather uneventful, but the car went along and that is all I can ask.
Pros
The Mercury Sable has been quite reliable apart from not keeping me warm or cool depending on the environment. It is a rather comfortable ride, the suspension is soft and accommodating to bumps. The car's dimensions are fairly easy to learn as it is a familiar size for sedan owners I believe. The paint as well has been extremely sturdy and still shines when cleaned up.
Cons
That same suspension being soft also makes for a rather boring ride and not much at all in the way of performance. The engine as well, giving out around 160 hp is not thrilling in any way, but simply adequate. The gas economy has never been great and is becoming worse as the car ages, especially compared to newer vehicles. Ford for some reason chose to use plastic connectors for the sway bar, which almost immediately crack. Rust occurs on any vehicle, especially in the cold weather climate and salt I encounter, but this vehicle seems to have rusted out the entire underside within a few yea... (more)

I bought my car from a private owner for $1,000. The body of the car was really clean and well kept. I have had my car now for two years. In that two year span, the only work I had done was a new starter and replace a hose. I replaced the tires due to normal wear and tear.
Story
Taking my kids trick or treating was the first and most memorable moment I have had in the vehicle. I needed the car most of all for my children, so anytime I'm able to do something with them or for them in it, it's a memorable time.
Pros
The car provides excellent service and is so quiet that it doesn't seem as though it is on. The interior is gold and plush and very comfortable. The backseat can seat three adults comfortably. The front seat are very comfortable and have a added feature on the side that collects items that may have fallen out of pockets. Instead of digging around on the side of the seat or floor, I can simply pull the tray and the item is inside.
Cons
The windows do not roll down because of an electrical issue, but for the sailing price of $1,000, I didn't mind. The air conditioned worked excellently, so the windows not rolling down isn't a major issue. The heating unit doesn't work, but I installed a heater by using the lighter jack. The car heats up fairly well now. If I ever decide to get the electrical issue fixed, the car would be in great condition.
