I owned a 2009 Nissan Versa hatchback until May of this year, when I traded it in at 97,000 miles for a new Versa Note S Plus hatchback. While I was concerned at first that it might not live up to the exceptional performance of the earlier version, I have been very pleased with the Note over the past four months. Performance and gas mileage were greatly improved, and the CVT system provided good performance and great mileage. Interior quality was much improved over older models, both in terms of seat design and function, the interior look and feel, and the placement of gauges and controls. Having all audio and Bluetooth controls on the steering wheel is a great plus. The Note still suffers from some of the issues of the older Versa models, namely a difficult blind spot, slow pickup, an... (more)
Story
I've really enjoyed the mileage tracking feature in the display, which allows you to reset your mileage statistics when you fill up. It then provides you with a running average miles per gallon rating as you drive, as well as providing an estimate in miles of how far you can go before you should stop and fill up. I've used it right before starting a long road trip with lots of highway miles, a... (more)
Pros
Improved and enhanced displays and controls. Excellent stereo with plenty of features and aux input jack near charging port. Power seat controls on S Plus and better trim models. Fold down rear seats for carrying larger items. Surprisingly roomy cargo area in the rear for a vehicle this size. Excellent fuel economy in city and highway miles. Comfortable seating with excellent forward visibility. Dashboard had a glove compartment, and a smaller compartment at the top for holding smaller items like insurance and other paperwork.
Cons
Vehicle has a difficult blind spot, so adjusting your side view mirrors to fill in that gap is very important. Road noise is quite noticeable at higher speeds, and can become annoying on long trips. Vehicle is designed for efficiency, not performance, so acceleration is not as fast as other vehicles in its class.
