Saab Owner Ratings & Reviews

2001 Saab 9-3X - I love this car.
I purchased my SAAB 9-3 used from a lady who barely drove it at all. It was four years old when I bought it and I've had it for about ten years. I absolutely love this car. It has been extremely reliable and has seen me through numerous moves across the country. I find it extremely comfortable both to be a passenger in and also to drive, and I find the interior styling and design much more intuitive and ergonomic than many other cars I've driven in. It's a hatchback, which means it has a tremendous amount of space, but it doesn't feel like a "big car." I'm beyond heartbroken SAAB may not be producing more new vehicles.
Story
This car was with me in five different states over the last decade. It took me through the nation's capital, the Rocky Mountains, and now the Midwest. I love that car. I likely will be selling it soon and am putting it off as long as I possibly can.
Pros
I absolutely love the amount of stuff I can fit in the car without it feeling like a minivan, truck or SUV. I moved all my belongings across the country twice in just this car. I think it's an incredibly cool looking car-- very unique, not like most cars on the road. It's beyond comfortable to drive and ride in. It's also extremely safe, which is great, as I now have children.
Cons
Repairs are relatively expensive because it's a foreign car. It can be difficult to obtain parts, especially used parts, because SAAB's production has ceased (and even before that it was tough to find affordable, decent used parts). It does sort of seem like once part of the car breaks down, it creates a veritable cascade of necessary repairs. It can also be difficult to find mechanics who are comfortable and competent working on SAABs.
2007 Saab 9-3X - Great car. Fun to drive and FAST.
The Saab really hits the mark with it's 9'3. The car is very well built and has met everyone of my expectations. My Saab is already seven years old, but still looks and feels like a new car. It's sleek body model, sharp black paint, and sporty alloy rims really make for a sharp looking automobile. The six speed transmission creates a fun and entertaining driving experience in all conditions. Inside, the black leather and wood grain create a luxurious feel, while handling like a sports car. The car is fully loaded, featuring XM radio, power locks and windows, plenty of trunk room, and the coolest pop out cupholder you will ever see. The engine runs and good today as it did when driving it off the lot.
Story
Every time I drive the car is a fun experience. I don't do anything too crazy, so I don't have anything too memorable.
Pros
This car is seven years old and still looks like a new car. I love the sharp black leather inside to go along with the dark wood grain. It gives the feel of a very luxurious ride. The six speed is more responsive that any manual I have previously driven. It gets up and goes. The pop out cup holder is also unique.
Cons
There aren't too many cons with the actual car itself. My only complaint is size. But that's not the cars fault. I knew what I was getting. Maintenance is starting to become pretty costly since the company went out of business. The turbo engine is expensive to maintain with $100+ oil changes every couple of months.
2006 Saab 9000 - A Reliable, Sporty Option
The 2006 9-3 2.0T is economical, sporty, and an all-around great car for anyone who likes to travel, whether it's around town or over long distances. The 2.0T motor has more than enough power to move the car quickly, and requires very little servicing (oil changes only needed every 9,000 miles). The power seats, automatic climate control, and quiet environment help make road trips enjoyable for the driver and for the passengers. Gas mileage is surprisingly good!
Story
There are several curvy roads that separate large fields, following rivers here in Indiana, and every time I get to whip my car around one of those turns, it feels great!
Pros
The car outperforms other sedans quite easily, but will get 32+ MPG on the highway if you maintain it well and keep your foot out of the gas. It has a driver information center that alerts you of any possible problems, like open doors or low fluids, which is extremely handy. The seats are comfortable and the interior styling is futuristic for its age, but in a good way. It is a premium sedan that runs on regular fuel, which is also great!
Cons
The oil that's required for this vehicle is quite expensive, but you only have to change it every 9,000 miles. Other parts are also expensive, depending on your source. There are no SAAB dealers left in the US, so you won't be able to have it serviced at a dealer unless they still have the old diagnostic tools around.
