2004 Saturn Ion Red Line - I love this car
I love this car. It is cute and sporty. It has suicide doors so it is a four door but looks like a two door, which I think is really cool. Mine has a unique and cool color of electric lime which I like because I don't like my car to look like anyone else's. Mine also has a body kit, spoiler and hood scoop with tinted windows and many customization's. Love the sunroof as well. Another thing that I love is dash where all the gauges are is in the middle. I am short so seeing over a boxy or large dash is not appealing to me. This car also has a lot of storage options. It also has a 5 star safety rating and I personally have had an accident where I came out perfectly fine and the car held up fine after repair. I have not had any major maintenance problems even wit it being an older model. T... (more)
Story
When I am driving along and get stopped at a stoplight on a two lane road and sometimes there is a mustang or another sport car next to me, they will rev their engine and although I shouldn't I love when that light turns green!
Pros
I think one of the most positive things about my car is it's just plain fun to drive. It's super fun and sporty and there are many options you can add, if you're into that kind of thing, to make it your own and unique. It is reliable and hasn't has any major maintenance issues. This car makes me feel good because of the compliments I get from other people on the paint color, which is a factory paint option and nothing aftermarket. It is a sport car that is actually really decent on gas as well. There are lots of storage options which I like because I am a bit of a neat freak. The trunk spa... (more)
Cons
One negative is the recall on the ignition switch, if not fixed it could cause serious damage. Another is that if your battery ever dies or you need to jump someone else, your battery is in the truck. It's just kind of odd. There is a lot of space in the front and passenger seating but if you have long legs and need to sit in the back it is not ideal. The backseats are bucket seats so it will only sit two back there.
1992 Saturn Astra - Fuel efficient box car
The cars image is not the most attractive. It has an awkward shape but the maroon color isn't bad. The tires and rims are small and fairly ugly. The seats fit comfortably, however it would not be recommended for a larger size person. The Saturn rides smoothly and gets about 35 mpg and fills up for no more than $30. Although, the Saturn sucks oil like water and oil changes are needed much more than a usual automobile. Automatic seatbelts are installed which are very convenient and keep you safe and remove the chance for tickets. The car is also very reliable seeing as it has been fully functional since 1992. The back seats are pretty crammed and can't fit much. The trunk is pretty spacious for the size of the car. Obviously the speakers aren't that great but new ones have been installed... (more)
Story
Once had six guys ride in the car which is insane because it barely can fit four. We went on a trip to my cabin and made it succesfully!
Pros
Gas mileage is great and it is very cheap to fill it up.
With new speakers, it can sound very good because the car is small.
The seats are comfy for an average size person.
Small size allows it to fit in any parking spot.
The wallet key is perfect if you lock the keys in the car.
My favorite features about the car is the automatic seat belts.
Cons
Oil changes are needed frequently.
The car is small.
Lights don't shine that bright.
Not the most attractive.
There are no cup holders.
2005 Saturn Ion Red Line - Inexpensive fun
I enjoy having this car. It handles well and is quite quick with the super charger. Servicing the car myself with basic tools is pretty easy to do for the most part, as long as you have some mechanical knowledge. Finding mechanical modifications have been easy to find as the car shares the same platform as the Chevy Cobalt SS. I have owned the car for about six years and have not had any major problems with it in the 40k miles I have put on it.
Story
Driving into my parking lot after a big snow storm I saw that it was not plowed yet and there was a 4x4 Blazer that seemed stuck in the snow. I shifted to second gear and was able to drive right around the stuck Blazer and made it to my parking spot with relative ease.
Pros
Fairly rare vehicle, they only made about 6,000 of them over four years. Has nice looks, mine is in silver. It handles great with the factory upgraded suspension. The car drives well in all weather conditions. I have driven it in some terrible snowstorms, and it has not let me down with proper snow tires installed. The factory upgraded stereo speakers sound really nice.
Cons
As it is a rarer car, finding replacement parts can be hard to find without paying a small fortune. Interior is fairly cheap feeling and looking. Gas mileage isn't that great, but it is also super charged and slightly modified. Being the cheap tier GM model, I have had to replace or fix things multiple times which is quite frustrating seeing how poorly designed some things are in the car. Not very comfortable after a couple hours.
