The Ford Focus: Hatchback is a wonderful car for the college age or recently married group. The sporty exterior gives the car a great appearance. The car gives a quiet ride and spacious interior perfect for a young family. As a new car it hasn't needed more than basic maintenance.
Pros
The trunk space is similar to that of an SUV but has the option of privacy like a car. Having the removable trunk cover and 40/60 fold down seats give the Ford Focus great flexibility. The hatchback has great control and with the right engine enough power to satisfy everyone.

This was my first new car. It was the first one I test drove. I fell in love at first sight. It was everything I wanted: small, a station wagon, easy to handle, stick shift, logical controls, and roomy enough for my very long legs.
Pros
Of course a new car is reliable, but as the owner of 3 old clunkers, I was delighted to have a car that only needed oil changes for a while. I was very comfortable in it, though many people warned me that the little cars didn't survive car crashes well. I felt confident that small cars were better than large ones at maneuvering around to avoid car crashes. I traveled a lot for my work. This was a great car for fitting all my possessions as I moved from one furnished room or studio apartment to another. When my car was relatively empty, the visibility was remarkable. I remember being amaze... (more)
Cons
I didn't like the fin on the back. I begged the dealer to remove it, but he insisted that it was designed to help keep the rear end down, and was permanently attached. My final experience with this car was when its differential sprung a leak. Mazda had not become as successful as expected, so a replacement was extremely hard to find. Junk yards didn't have them. New ones were unreasonably expensive. It wasn't worth replacing, so I had to let go of it when it was only around 5 years old.

I enjoyed driving this car on a daily basis. It gave me the feeling of being in control of the car. The way the vehicle is setup made me feel like I was able to feel the road through the steering wheel. It was a blast driving this through canyons and curvy roads. However, when it came to everyday driving around town it became a hassle at times. When the A/C was on, the car would have a sudden loss of power which you could feel in the acceleration. There was very little trunk space so you couldn't fit very much. The power was on the low side but overall it was a fun car to drive. I would probably get another Miata in the future but not a 99-00 as the coil packs were known to go out which mine did and as a result, cost me a lot of money to replace the catalytic converter.
Pros
This little gem has a wonderful overall suspension setup. Underbody bracing for added rigidity Suspension was done so well they kept it the exact same for the new NC Miata. Sufficient power to allow you to have fun in the rain The car allows you to feel the road as you're driving. Gives you total control over your actions. Averaged 30 MPG Low cost maintenance 12 gallon fuel tank
Cons
Will slip out a tad in heavy rain if you don't watch the throttle carefully. No trunk space 2 seater Coil Packs are notorious for going out and causing P0421 As a result, this can end up burning up your catalytic converter which is very expensive to buy. The top doesn't last very well in the sun Converting to a hardtop is expensive
