Overall good car, but not a lot of space for passengers. This car handles like a car, and does well on highways and curvy roads alike. The gas mileage is good for a crossover vehicle.
Story
We drove the car to my family's house in WV and stopped at a beautiful spot on top of the mountain. If was very peaceful and quiet.
Pros
There is room to put a bicycle in the back of the vehicle if the back seats are put down. I only have to put my bike on the rack on top of the car if there is more than one bike, or if the back is packed for a road trip.
Cons
The back seat is rather small. If I sit in the back, my knees touch the seat in front of me. Our child's car seat being in the car requires removal of the head rest from the seat in front of it. This makes that seat very uncomfortable for long trips, as well as a bit unsafe. The hatchback door is designed so that it is impossible to mount a bike rack on the back of the car. The car doesn't come with a tow hitch standard. This means that, if the back of the vehicle is packed for a trip, my bike has to go on top of the car. I am not a tall person, so I often have to enlist the help of my hu... (more)

I absolutely love my CX-5. Not only does it look great, but it is just fun to drive. It has that "zoom zoom" that Mazda advertises. The acceleration and handling are great, and I really enjoy the drive. The gas mileage has been surprisingly good for a slightly larger vehicle, even with lots of in city driving. I have owned it for over two years and have had absolutely zero maintenance issues outside of regular service. The cabin is very comfortable, even in the lower level cloth seat options. Passengers in the back seat also have plenty of space and is a great vehicle to take on a road trip, even with several adults. I am absolutely spoiled now with the back up camera and the blind spot monitors & I can't imagine how many little dings and dents those have saved me over the years. The o... (more)
Story
We went floating down the river on inner tubes and needed to get them to the river after inflating them. I managed to get five fully inflated inner tubes in the vehicle with me on the way to our day on the water!
Pros
There are a lot of things to like about the CX-5. In terms of performance, it has been incredibly fun to drive, gotten good gas mileage, and has handled well in all conditions (including heavy Lake Effect snow in Buffalo, NY). Aside from regular service, I have not had to take the car in for service at all. That is a huge relief in just knowing that you have such a reliable vehicle in the driveway. In regards to the comfort aspects of the vehicle, the upgraded BOSE sound system has been great. The moon roof also makes the interior seem much roomier. I also like the touch screen interface a... Cons
The negatives about the CX-5 are pretty minimal. First, I think the touch screen interface could do much more, it isn't as easy to use as you think it should be. Linking phones into the system isn't the easiest thing to do and it is confusing to charge and link a phone into the system at the same time. In terms of the radio, it is annoying that there is no way to just scan the radio stations from the steering wheel buttons, you can only move to pre set stations. Another small issue is the rear view camera, it is a fantastic tool, but too often when it is snowy, icy, or rainy, the lens are ... (more)

The main selling feature about this car was space. The backseat has ample leg room for most anybody. The trunk space also has a large area of space with no plastic protruding and taking space away. The seats also lay flat allowing for many items to fit perfectly. The navigation system and audio work great. The material quality is highly exceptional, as well. The driver seat is full power and also includes lumbar support. The ride is very smooth, and does not feel like you are sitting high off the ground. The vehicle also has blind-spot monitoring which is great in city/highway settings as well as AFS headlights.
Story
I enjoy driving the vehicle just to drive it because of the nice ride.
Pros
Top favorite features of the car are: navigation, audio- including Bluetooth, USB, aux in, Sirius satellite radio and option for Pandora radio, sunroof, heated seats, and dual A/C. The seats seem to be made from high quality material and are easy to clean. Another feature is keyless entry and keyless start. Just a press of a button and you can choose which doors unlock/lock, and the keys don't even have to be out! It is also very simple to change the key fob battery.
Cons
One negative thing I have noticed is that the navigation system occasionally doesn't work. On certain trips, only two or three in seven months, the navigation system has frozen and does not work until the car is restarted. One time it was while trying to view traffic, and the other time was for no apparent reason. The button did not work, and you could not view the navigation screen. Once the car was restarted however, everything worked again. Another con is that when this has happened, all saved locations/recent destinations are erased and have to be re-entered into the system.
