The indigo color of the car was the initial thing that drove me towards the car, as it was such a unique color. I liked the body as it wasn't bulky and didn't have a tail end that stuck out. I wanted another SUV since that's all I had driven, but something smaller than my Rodeo. The car has been very easy to drive in all kinds of weather, and I've never felt unsafe. However, after about two years of having the car, the paint has started peeling very badly. It looks peeled off in certain places and has lost some of its shine. The sunroof (which I originally loved) stopped working effectively about two years after having the car as well. It's gotten good mileage; I've taken the SUV on about 10 road trips and have never had a problem. I never noticed any blind spots, and when I had to bre... (more)
Story
I took this SUV on a total of about ten road trips which were wonderful. It was easy to get to and from places, and whenever I think back on those road trips, it's with nothing but fond memories. Most of the road trips were for concerts, so the memories involve a lot of music.
Pros
The car was excellent in the snow due to the 4 wheel drive, which was an important aspect. I could always drive easier than most of my friends who had normal cars. The sound system was nice and worked well in conjunction once I got an iPod dock for the car. This was the first car that I've had that's had a sunroof, which I put to great use in the summer. The mirrors were easy to move mechanically and never got stuck. It was incredibly easy to maneuver the car, and was easy to drive with one hand which I like doing. The trunk space was nice to have for transporting larger objects. The seat ... (more)
Cons
The paint started peeling off about two years after I got the car, and it was a difficult color to match so it was too costly to repaint. The sunroof stopped working effectively after about two years as well. The front bumper of the car has become prone to rusting, and looks tacky instead of new. The middle seat in the back is uncomfortable and lumpy and can only fit a small person. The door on the passenger side becomes jammed every once in a while. It would be nice if there was a removable top carpet in between the front and back seats for easier cleaning. The gas mileage could be better... (more)

This really is the best truck that I have ever owned. If Mazda had continued the Tribute model, I would purchase another one in a heartbeat. I purchased my Mazda Tribute used, and other than a factory recall (which was fixed for free) I have had no mechanical issues with the truck whatsoever. I feel completely safe, no matter what the weather or road conditions are. Being a parent, safety and reliability are always my number one concern when purchasing a vehicle. My daughter's car seat fit easily and securely in the middle of the back seat, with plenty of room on either side for passengers with ample legroom. When I purchased my Mazda, I was working in an industry where I would be required to be there whether there was an inch of snow or 3 feet of snow, and my Mazda never let me do... (more)
Story
When my daughter was an infant and had colic,to give my wife a break, I would bundle the baby up in her car seat in my Mazda, and we'd go for a nice long drive, sometimes to the beach, sometimes to the river, or sometimes just around our neighborhood. She would be lulled to sleep within 5 min, there were a lot of nights spent driving around Southern, NJ with my daughter sleeping in the backseat.
Pros
The most positive thing I can say about my Mazda is that it is affordable without compromising anything. The Mazda Tribute is a solid, well built, smooth shifting, and 110% reliable truck.
Cons
The only negative thing about the Tribute is changing the headlight bulbs. To change the bulbs, you have to position your hand/wrist at a bit of an awkward angle to pop off the rubber gasket to remove and replace the lightbulb. It's a small, maybe once a year, inconvenience for such a reliable truck.

My dad got me my Mazda Tribute as a graduation gift from high school. After driving a '96 Jeep Cherokee all summer, it was great to have a car that not only had air conditioning, but had GREAT air conditioning. My car has a sun roof, which is great for cruising with my friends. It's big enough to comfortably seat 5, but we've been able to cram more in for a ride into the city of Chicago. It made moving into my college dorm really easy. At the end of the term, I learned how to fold down the seats and was able to fit our entire futon in the backseat. The windows are big enough that I’m comfortable seeing out of them, as are the windows. The seats are comfy. My favorite part about it is hands-down its size. I feel safe up off of the ground, but I don’t feel like I’m destroying the environ... (more)
Story
My friends and I went to dinner once and when we got back to campus, we rolled down the windows and screamed/sang out the windows. Still one of my favorite freshman year memories.
Pros
The size, the gas mileage, the comfy seats
Cons
I wish that the gas cap had a place to sit and/or a string thingy that attached it to the car so I wouldn't have to put it on the roof when filling up
