Great, reliable family car.
I love this car! We bought this car used with about 70,000 miles on it in hopes that it would make a good car for our expanding family. It has not disappointed. It has been very reliable. We do regular maintenance on it and have not had to make any big repairs since buying two years ago. It drives very smoothly. It has plenty of space for our family of four. There is plenty of room for two car seats in the backseat and a decent amount of leg room in the front seat. The trunk has enough space for hauling things around. The back seats do fold down, so we can transport bigger items if it needed as well.

The SUV that couldn't.
The CX-7 is not much of a car. The exterior design isn't very interesting, and the interior is mundane at most. The infotainment is confusing and doesn't provide simple handling. The gas mileage is decent at best, and the little two liter does not do well at moving the crossover SUV whatever they decided it was. The cabin is loud, and you can hear nearly all road noise despite having the sound up. To be honest, the car doesn't have redeeming values.

Love/hate.
When I bought this vehicle, I was in love with it! It has a turbo, it's fast, fun, and has great luxuries for a 2010. I bought it in the summer time, and since I live in a place that has snow six out of twelve months of the year, the "all-wheel drive" is a must and was very appealing. So just like that, I bought a new car. They don't explain Mazda's "all-wheel drive" option clearly though. I had to do research to figure out why, on the first heavy snow fall, I flew down a twelve block hill, almost hit countless cars while not being able to stop or gain traction through each of the twelve intersections. The vehicle is not all-wheel drive, all the time. It has a sensor that tells it when to kick on and off. In my experience, the "sensor" doesn't know up from down because my "all-wheel drive" Mazda is the scariest thing I have ever driven in the snow. This next winter season is already scaring me to think about.
