I bought the CX7 after owning a Mazda 3 for five years. Prior to buying the 3, I had always owned American cars. After my divorce, and relying on one income, I did a lot of research as to what cars were most reliable. Mazda was consistently listed among the most reliable cars. I bought the CX7 because I needed something bigger than the 3 and it was highly rated among current owners.
Story
I drove home one day in heavy, wet snow. It took me almost an hour to make what would normally be a 15 minute commute. The Mazda handled well the entire way home and I was proud that it'd done as well as it had, especially in light of the road conditions and the fact that my tires weren't great. I got home and couldn't make it up my driveway. Laughed because I'd made it 10 miles with no is... (more)
Pros
My CX7 came with a sunroof, a remote start, and had low miles (I bought it used). I love the factory sound system - the sound quality is great and it has both a CD player and an input for an mp3 or other portable audio device. The paint is a pearl so it glitters in the sun. The car has an aggressive, sporty stance that appealed to me.
Cons
It doesn't handle well in the snow, but that may be due to the tires that are currently on it. I plan to purchase new tires this fall. There is a light burned out on the air/heat controls but I haven't pursued fixing it yet. It's kind of a slug when you're running the air conditioning, but that's to be expected when you drive a 4 cylinder (I do not have the turbo, and specifically sought a CX7 without the turbo because of owner reviews complaining about it).

I bought the Mazda cx7 a few years back for our growing family because it had a very nice look to it while also allowing us to fit three car seats across the back. The car looks great it very stylish and sleek looking. The car drives great and handles very well considering it's fairly narrow stance. It came with nice 18" wheels which look great but cost a bit more when it's time for new tires. The four cylinder turbo has plenty of power and really moves on the highway. The only real drawback I have an issue with is mine is only front wheel drive and it does not drive well in the snow and even sometimes has issues in the rain. It gets really good gas mileage and is really reliable. I have not had any issues with it and I'm creeping up on 100k miles on it. Overall I give the car a reall... (more)
Pros
Great and very stylish look, very reliable and solidly built. One of the most dependable cars I have owned and more than enough power for a four cylinder turbo.
Cons
Handles poorly in bad weather and cost of some wear item can be pricy
