The size is perfect for someone that wants something between a car and a full-size SUV. It is perfect for hauling larger items without being too bulky. I love that it drives and handles just like a sedan and does not feel too large. At the same time, I sit up higher, and so I feel safer than in a small car. Mazda did a great job on the trim, making it look nice and giving it a fancier feel without a hefty price tag. Road noise can be a problem at times as it is not the quietest vehicle I have ever been in, but it is not completely unacceptable. It is great in bad weather on wet and snowy roads. It is one of the better all-wheel drive vehicles out there. Mazdas are also very reliable cars, and this one is no exception. The gas mileage could be better, but for an SUV, it falls in an acce... Story
We were able to get our 6-foot tall Christmas tree inside the vehicle. It stuck out the back a little, but at least we didn't have to put it on the roof of our vehicle that year.
Pros
I love the extra safety features (back-up camera and side sensors). It has a Bluetooth system and push-button start. The size of the vehicle is perfect. It is an attractive vehicle.
Cons
Road noise is a little loud. The seats are a little more firm than I care for.

My Mazda CX5 performs extremely well. Even after having bought it used with 18,000 miles on it, I've had no trouble during the time that I've owned it. I drive it to and from work around 20 miles every day. The interior quality is great -- and is the main reason we went with the CX5 over the Rav4. The dash display is sleek and most everything is digital. The fabric on the seats is very nice. The exterior shape is nice and there is plenty of trunk space. Unfortunately, unlike some other brands we looked at, the CX5 doesn't come with rubber floor mats, which would have been nice. Also, the pick-up (acceleration) from a stop isn't the best.
Story
A few weekends ago, we packed up the CX5 and took our new baby on her first car trip up to the mountains in Steamboat Springs, CO. It did a great job of hauling us, her pack-n-play, a humidifier, 2 strollers, a diaper bag, a ton of baby supplies, and all of our clothes up the mountain!
Pros
My favorite features of this vehicle are mostly in the design and in how it looks. The front dash display is clean and has a video screen that has a rear-facing camera for backing up. It syncs up extremely easily to smartphones and other Bluetooth devices. It's simple to play a podcast, listen to Spotify, or answer a phone call through the car. The interior materials used for the seats don't look cheap at all, compared to other brands in the same price range. The exterior is appealing -- it's not to large or clunky. The fuel economy is great. I traded in a small car to get this SUV and the... (more)
Cons
Unfortunately, unlike some other brands, the Mazda CX5 doesn't come with rubber floor mats. You have to buy those separately. In my opinion, most people buying a small SUV would like rubber floor mats. The pick-up from a stop in my Mazda CX5 isn't great either. I find myself with the pedal to the floor a lot of times and I'm not a crazy driver, by any means.
