1999 Subaru Legacy Owner Ratings & Reviews

1999 Subaru Legacy - Reliable.
We've driven this car from the north of the US to California, across the Rockies and finally to the east coast. It has been amazing! The only issues we've had were with a dead battery, and the alternator had to get replaced once. Other than that, it has worked reliably well over the past six years. Whenever something did have to be fixed, it was no problem because the car is simply made and therefore easy to fix. It's a car that has been made to last. The car also has a lot of room for storage and camping gear. We can easily fit luggage, camping gear, golf clubs, and our dog with no problem.
Story
A road trip through avenue in the giants (red woods in Oregon / California) with our car was amazing!
Pros
Reliable. Pretty good mileage. Spacious. Relatively inexpensive to maintain. It looks cool and has a nice green color.
Cons
The stick shift on hills can be hard sometimes. Has some difficulty with getting over long and steep inclines. The radio could have better range. Automatic windows instead of roll down windows would be a welcome addition.
1999 Subaru Legacy - Dependable and Attractive
The vehicle has performed well with almost 100,000 miles traveled and no major malfunctions. I would highly recommend it as a moderately priced, attractive, and dependable model.
Story
The seats were quite comfortable and the radio played nicely when used at a local drive-in theater that I would go to with my girlfriend a few years back. Good times.
Pros
The car has been dependable during its time on the road. The paint has withstood more than 15 years of wear with minimal rusting. I also find the sleek body of the car an attractive design, and enjoy the tone of green that the model comes in. It has an enough space with the trunk and folding back seats to carry a bike. It is also relatively efficient with fuel consumption
Cons
There has been moderate rusting under the body of the car. I have also noticed that the car's tires don't seem to hold air as well as other vehicles for whatever reason, so air pressure must be monitored quite closely.
