We purchased this vehicle because at the time we lived in an area with heavy snowfall in the winters. The day after we purchased it we woke up to three feet of snow! This car handled it like a champ... even without any special winter tires. While people were sliding off into ditches, I was trucking along in my trusty Subaru like it was a walk in the park. We have never had any issues dealing with snow or "off road" conditions. We did encounter the dreaded head gasket issue this generation of Subaru's is known for, however we think it was due to our mechanic using a non-Subaru specific thermostat which lead to overheating. After getting the repairs done we have had no other issues. My husband loves that he can feel comfortable with me on long driving trips by myself without fear of bein... (more)
Story
We took a nice long road trip down to Baja! Our Subaru handled those Mexico roads like they were nothing and came back unscathed! We, on the other hand, looked and felt a little worse for wear after the trip! Note to self: Not all taco stands on the side of the road are created equal!
Pros
All-wheel drive handles any driving conditions like a champ Plenty of trunk space Decent gas mileage for an all-wheel vehicle
Cons
Head gasket issue was costly Not enough cup holders

I have the Subaru legacy four-door sedan and have been driving it for the past four years. I love this car and it has driven me all over the northwest of the united states. I drive approximately fifteen to twenty thousand miles per year on this car and it has done wonderful through all sorts of weather and terrain! This would definitely be a car that I would consider purchasing again.
Story
I love driving up to Bogus Basin in the winter months to ski and snowboard. I feel so safe driving up my little Subaru!
Pros
I appreciate that this car does so well in the weather. I live in Idaho where we get snow and ice in the winter and I continue to feel safe regardless. I also consider the phenomenal gas-mileage a huge pro! I commute to work and school and appreciate the economical fuel efficiency of this car. My only complaints of this car are very superficial things that do not discredit the safety or quality of the car.
Cons
The biggest cons of this vehicle would include the fixtures of the interior. The pseudo-leather lining of the steering wheel and shifter have not held up well after prolonged exposure to the sunlight. Also, the stock stereos in this car were very unimpressive in comparison to the stock stereos of similar cars produced this year. Another complaint is the interior faux-wood detailing. I think it looks tacky and not nice at all.
