2014 Toyota Tundra - Favorite truck.
I had owned several Nissan mid-size trucks in the past, but needed to downgrade to a Civic about 10 years back to save money on payments and gas. The Civic was a great car and served us well for almost 9 years, including multiple cross country trips when we moved, but I had always wanted a full-size truck and knew Toyota had a reputation for quality. I never looked at any other models - I'd set my sights on the Tundra as soon as my wife agreed to pass the Civic to our daughter so I could upgrade. The truck is rock-solid after 35,000 miles and I have no complaints about the build quality. I love driving it!

My wife and I took a road trip from Boise to Las Vegas at Thanksgiving last year to attend my son's wedding and visit with some old friends. While the truck does not have the ride quality of a high-end vehicle, we stayed comfortable for the entire trip through the vast emptiness of northern/central Nevada.

First off, the dealer was great! I was able to work everything out online after my initial visit for a test drive. They did not have the color I wanted in stock so I needed to wait about a week for delivery, but other than that - fantastic service! I like the size of the truck since I'm able to hit the home center and fill the bed with sheets of plywood and other supplies as often as I can afford it. Love the visibility from the driving position, the safety features are great and the truck looks good even in stock SR5 form. I will probably do some minor exterior upgrades in the future, pos...

The passenger and rear door lock actuators failed twice - they got out of sync with the driver's door and would unlock when the driver's door locked. The dealer replaced these under warranty at about 25,000 miles, and there have been no other problems mechanically. The only other drawback to driving a full-size truck is that you don't get Civic level gas mileage. I've averaged about 17 mpg for the duration of the time I've owned it. I knew that going in, but it still was a hit in the wallet when I went from $50 a month in gas to $50 a week.
