Well-built and reliable.
Overall, a well-built vehicle with a very reliable engine and transmission combination. This vehicle is approaching 300K miles and is a daily driver. The car is still a low-maintenance vehicle and very reliable. The exterior is original factory paint and is still in excellent shape. The engine and the transmission are also original.

Solid, Reliable
The 1996 Volvo 850 GLT is part of a solid line of vehicles that was manufactured from 91-96. It was a fantastic platform that was extremely reliable. It was among the best vehicles I've ever owned.

Great performance!
We bought this car used 15 years ago. It was in great shape then and still is at 17 years old. We have had to do old-age maintenance in the past couple of years, but that is to be expected. The styling of this old Volvo is boxy and for now, that is not the style, but we like it. At the time of buying this wagon, we loved the look of it as it was clean and fit our style of cars. It has comfortable leather seats; the driver one is automated so the settings for each driver can be fixed and easily reset. It has plenty of head room as well as room to seat five adults comfortably. There are windows all around and being a station wagon, there really are no blind spots in this one. The back seat folds down in order for plenty of space to carry cargo or lumber from the yard or luggage. The wagon has over 150,000 miles on it now and has rarely been in the shop, although it has had some issues just because of its age. This Volvo handles well for a wagon. When it was younger, it had more pep than it does now, but it still goes up the bridge easily. My husband has always kept the car care up-to-date and we both have washed it to keep the outer appearance great. This Volvo 850 GT station wagon has been a reliable and worthy car for us. We are glad we bought it and still have it running so well.
