2002 Volvo S80 - Great vehicle

My vehicle is a black 2002 Volvo S80. Not only is it a very safe and reliable car, but also it gets good gas mileage and never seems to break down. The car is clearly made by engineers who know what they are doing. The only thing that I dislike about the car is the cup holder in in the front is very flimsy and breaks on most Volvo s80's.
Title
I got to hit my parents with their own head rests when they rode in the back seat of my car on the way to dinner.
Pros
One of the best things about this vehicle is the button that makes the head rests in the back seat fall down. I enjoy hitting the people who sit in the back with their own head rests. Also, I like how the car handle's. In my opinion, it is the easiest car to drive, and it is definitely the best-handling car that I have personally driven.
Cons
The worst thing about my Volvo is the cup holder that doesn't really work properly. I need somewhere to put my drink down, and having a broken cup holder makes that very hard. Also, I don't like how the car doesn't have a rear view camera, because I would like to be as lazy as other people when backing out of a parking spot or backing out of my driveway.

My Volvo S80, lovingly named Sadie by our family, is fun to drive, gets great mileage and has a lot of spunk. We purchased this car for my husband, but it wasn't long before I took it over. We now have two teen drivers who prefer to drive it also. This means another Volvo is on the horizon!
Title
My favorite trip in Sadie has been along the California Coast. She really hugs the road and corners like a dream. I took her to Mendocino and we had a wonderful journey!
Pros
I love that I can confidently merge into freeway traffic because Sadie has gumption. A little nudge of the gas pedal puts me quickly into the flow of traffic. Sadie is fun to drive along the Pacific Coast Highway which is known for its many turns and steep coastal drops. I feel confident driving Sadie there as she handles almost instinctively, hugging each curve and responding to hills without the slightest hesitation.
Cons
Thinking. Surely, there must be a con. Hmm. Still thinking. Nope. I got nothing!

This has been a wonderfully-comfortable vehicle which makes me feel safe while driving. I previously had a 2.5T version on an older model S80 and was really hesitant when Volvo discontinued that engine and introduced the 3.2 and T6. -The 3.2 I test drove didn't have the same oomph as the T6, which was the engine I fell in love with. I've always loved the quality of leather utilized in the vehicle, and the wood grain accents are a step up from my older model S80 trim. I wish this engine had better gas mileage. That's one spot I feel Volvo could have tweaked a bit. Newer model years have better mileage with the same engine. Safety is a big sell for me and I feel Volvo has always surpassed this category more than any other vehicle manufacturer. I went with the BLIS option on this veh... (more)
Title
Cruising up the coastline to Maine on a summer day with the sunroof open and the music turned up.
Pros
The T6 engine really does have some zip to it. It's not overly punchy, but it does get you going when you want it to. The front seats are really some of the most comfortable seats you will have the pleasure of sitting in, especially on long road trips. The safety features are bar none, and you have a better feeling knowing that you are riding down the road in a machine built around safety in mind. The push-button start is a nice touch, and the console layout for all controls are great. Have always appreciated dual-climate control. It is certainly not unique to Volvo, but the layout of... Cons
I do not like the maintenance on the vehicle. I took it to an independent shop, because the dealer was not doing thorough work, and I was spending more time and money there that I should have been. I have had more issue with this model than my older generation S80, which gives me pause when thinking about going into a new Volvo after this vehicle. Some of the interior materials feel cheaper than my older model version S80. I wish that Volvo had incorporated navigation into the dash - as opposed to a center dash pop-up unit which is clunky and feels dated to a degree. The car should ha... (more)
