Okay, so I bought a Volvo. I know what your thinking. Isn't that a grandma car? NO WAY! This Volvo is the best car I've ever driven. Let's start with the style. Yes the hood and front grill look like that of a Volvo station wagon. But that's just a trademark of these machines. If you look past the front you'll see the sleek styled body on the sides and then the sporty trunk supporting a spoiler. I love the inside too. The leather seats keep it smelling clean. And in the winter, the heated seats keep me warm, along with the heating system that'll have you sweating in no time. Let me touch on my favorite part, the center console. It's call a waterfall console, it looks unlike any other cars console. Also the speaker system has surround sound and elevates any song you listen too. This car... (more)
Story
Let's just say you have to move the front seats up when "using" the backseat. Just Kidding. Everytime I drive to work on a sunny day I open all the windows and the sun roof and just let the sun shine down on me. It brings me a lot of joy to cruise like that, even if I am on my way to work.
Pros
The safety is the reason people buy Volvos. The reliability is why I bought a Volvo. It never has a problem. This car is unique, not many around anymore. The sound system and cabin style is phenomenal. The cars quick for a 4 cylinder engine. Performs well.
Cons
I don't like how much an oil change and other maintenance costs. "Grandma car" reputation. I've heard the electronic system is a burden for some.

The S40 is a solid car, and has run smoothly for me over the last 6 years that I have owned it. With regular upkeep, I've never had any mechanical issues with the car. With my driving habits I get good gas mileage, averaging between 23-27 mpg. Over the years that I've owned the car, I've driven upwards of 20,000 miles, and it continues to run smoothly without any rattles or functional problems.
Story
I've had a number of great beach trips in my car, as I'm usually the one out of my friends that ends up driving. Even though the S40 is on the smaller end, theres more than enough room in the car for 3-4 friends and myself to make a road trip.
Pros
I think it's a good looking car, and is a great for everyday commuting. As a graduate student, I was driving up to two hours a day in the car, and have never had any major issues. There's more than enough trunk space to fulfill my needs; while I was in college I was able to pack everything that I needed to move into/out of my dorm room in the car (trunk, back seat, and front passenger seat), and was able to move everything that I needed in only one trip. I also like the gas mileage which averages around 25mpg for me... even better than I had anticipated!
Cons
My biggest dislike about the S40 is how it handles in the snow. Even with snow tires on my car, I've had some winters where I'd get stuck at the bottom of my road spinning tires. Thankfully, these incidents are few and far between, and as long as you accelerate slowly when the conditions are bad you generally don't have any issues.

I fell in love with Victoria ( my car ) the first time I ever saw one on the road. From the older models, to the newer versions, I love the body style. The S60 and the S80 are nice too, but they were just too big for me. The S40 is cute and small and can fit into almost any space. She handles like a beauty, every corner, abrupt stops, having to accelerate very quickly, she does it all.
Story
There was this one great time that I was going at least 105mph going up I85. The car was handling so smoothly, I didn't realize I was going that fast. Then I got a super speeder ticket. Great times...
Pros
The owner before me kept the car in immaculate shape, so when I got her, the interior still looked brand new, the exterior ( and very illegal tint ) looked flawless in its all black glory, the car had been maintained very well, and the only thing I ever had to replace was the suspension and other little things.
Cons
The maintenance was definitely not cheap, and going to the dealership was sometimes completely out of the question. Some parts were hard to come by, so I'd have to wait until they got shipped in from some far away land. Also, they stopped making the S40 in 2011. Very disappointing.
