My Volvo S40 has been an upgrade for me. I enjoyed owning a stable and reliable vehicle. I live in the Northeast and have been able to manage well when needing to drive in the snow. The car has demonstrated good traction and stability in those circumstances. I also enjoy the look as it is a small and stylish car. It looks and feels like a quality car.
Story
A memorable story was driving the car down a slight decline and through a roundabout in newly icy conditions. I knew that it would slide, and the situation was potentially treacherous, but the car only took a slight slide, but otherwise was responsive to my driving, and I was able to get through the situation safely and on my way home.
Pros
My favorite feature of the car by far is the stability. I have had numerous less than ideal situations on the road as a driver, and it feels good to be driving a car that makes me feel more secure when I have to respond to various driving conditions and situations. As this was an upgrade for me, I appreciated having signal lights on the rearview mirrors and the keyless entry option. Also, being a small car, I have felt in control of handling and maneuvering the car.
Cons
The car is small and also low to the ground. Being low to the ground makes it more difficult when I have to transport older individuals. Also, sometimes I don't feel like having to push myself up out of the car. It would be nice to feel a little more space inside the cabin as well. The car also seems to have a leak of water onto the back driver's side floor. I have no idea how it happened or where it's coming from. I have asked mechanics to look at it, but they have found nothing.

Okay, so I bought a Volvo. I know what your thinking. Isn't that a grandma car? NO WAY! This Volvo is the best car I've ever driven. Let's start with the style. Yes the hood and front grill look like that of a Volvo station wagon. But that's just a trademark of these machines. If you look past the front you'll see the sleek styled body on the sides and then the sporty trunk supporting a spoiler. I love the inside too. The leather seats keep it smelling clean. And in the winter, the heated seats keep me warm, along with the heating system that'll have you sweating in no time. Let me touch on my favorite part, the center console. It's call a waterfall console, it looks unlike any other cars console. Also the speaker system has surround sound and elevates any song you listen too. This car... (more)
Story
Let's just say you have to move the front seats up when "using" the backseat. Just Kidding. Everytime I drive to work on a sunny day I open all the windows and the sun roof and just let the sun shine down on me. It brings me a lot of joy to cruise like that, even if I am on my way to work.
Pros
The safety is the reason people buy Volvos. The reliability is why I bought a Volvo. It never has a problem. This car is unique, not many around anymore. The sound system and cabin style is phenomenal. The cars quick for a 4 cylinder engine. Performs well.
Cons
I don't like how much an oil change and other maintenance costs. "Grandma car" reputation. I've heard the electronic system is a burden for some.
