This car has been great! With over 240,000 miles on it, it still is going strong. The size of the vehicle is perfect for my family of 4. The AWD is certainly a must have for our icy winters. I've never had heated seats before this car and I can honestly say that it will absolutely be a requirement on any future vehicles we purchase. They are just so comfortable, great for the winter, and it certainly helps to loosen up my back. Other amazing features that I love about car are things like the climate control and the sun/moon roof. The climate control is amazing for both winter and summer. It doesn't matter the time of year, we're always comfortable. I love the sun roof in the summer and the moon roof in the winter. I know that it's basically another window, but it adds that special so... (more)
Story
This car has helped my family to make great memories. The most recent would be camping. We took it to go camping and it handled the drive wonderfully. It was able to handle the hundreds of miles (round-trip), the different terrains, and kept us comfortable over the many hours of driving.
Pros
My favorite feature is definitely the heated seats. They are so amazing and I don't know how I lived without them before.
Cons
My top negative thing about this car is the seat belt on the driver's side. I have large breasts and the seat belt does not fit across my chest. In addition, I'm quite short and I have to sit closer to the steering wheel. Because of this, the seat belt doesn't fit. I had to get a seat belt extension in order to accommodate my chest and lack of height.

The car is reliable and safe. Even at 11 years old it shows that it was well-built. It has great cargo space and it is comfortable to drive in it long distances.
Story
I enjoyed driving this car from Texas to New York with a 3-ton trailer.
Pros
The comfort of the driver and sufficient cargo space are the most important elements of this car for me.
Cons
It is an expensive vehicle to repair when it comes to it.

If I had an unlimited gas card I would drive this vehicle a lot more than I do. I love the space inside for the family and all of our stuff. When we take it on trips we usually bring more stuff than we need as there's room and since there is, why not. It has sat idle for three months at a time and started right up and run with no problems whatsoever. There have been what I consider normal repairs through its life with us as it's aged. We thought of getting another, newer car, but there wasn't anything out there that was comparable in quality and size, so we've sunk the money into repairs to keep our v70 going. I've never been sad for a day that we bought it as it's dependable to a fault (but I'm one to do preventative care as opposed to waiting for something to happen).
Story
I've slept in this car. I've carried my life around in it. I've carried 14 people (for a short distance) packed inside. It's a work horse of a vehicle and despite that quality, it still feels cushy to my tooshie every time we take it out. If it wasn't for the bad gas mileage (23 mpg) I would use it more often.
Pros
If you want a solid family car and not a converted army vehicle posing as something to drive on normal roads, this is/was the car. They don't make this type of car anymore. SUVs/converted trucks have pretty much supplanted anything close to this as a car for a family to drive. Even with its solid feel, it always feels nice to sit in and drive.
Cons
Gas mileage isn't the greatest and repairs are a bit expensive as the parts are not generic at all. Other than that, it is a solid solid vehicle. As my mechanic says, "They don't make cars like this anymore." He is a Volvo guy and was upset when I almost sold it. It's tough to see a grown man weep.
