2002 Volvo V70 - Great Family Car
This car has been great! With over 240,000 miles on it, it still is going strong. The size of the vehicle is perfect for my family of 4. The AWD is certainly a must have for our icy winters. I've never had heated seats before this car and I can honestly say that it will absolutely be a requirement on any future vehicles we purchase. They are just so comfortable, great for the winter, and it certainly helps to loosen up my back.
Other amazing features that I love about car are things like the climate control and the sun/moon roof. The climate control is amazing for both winter and summer. It doesn't matter the time of year, we're always comfortable. I love the sun roof in the summer and the moon roof in the winter. As for other specs, the car gets over 200 miles to a tank of gas and that's city driving. It gets even more with highway driving. The car hands great and it feels like its cruising along even at high speeds. It has plenty of space to accommodate my family with room to spare. The trunk space is huge and has been beneficial for pets, groceries, luggage, etc. We always have enough room for whatever we're doing.
This car has helped my family to make great memories. The most recent would be camping. We took it to go camping and it handled the drive wonderfully. It was able to handle the hundreds of miles (round-trip), the different terrains, and kept us comfortable over the many hours of driving.

My favorite feature is definitely the heated seats. They are so amazing and I don't know how I lived without them before.

My top negative thing about this car is the seat belt on the driver's side. I have large breasts and the seat belt does not fit across my chest. In addition, I'm quite short and I have to sit closer to the steering wheel. Because of this, the seat belt doesn't fit. I had to get a seat belt extension in order to accommodate my chest and lack of height.

2004 Volvo V70 - I like and trust this vehicle
The car is reliable and safe. Even at 11 years old it shows that it was well-built. It has great cargo space and it is comfortable to drive in it long distances.

I enjoyed driving this car from Texas to New York with a 3-ton trailer.

The comfort of the driver and sufficient cargo space are the most important elements of this car for me.

It is an expensive vehicle to repair when it comes to it.

1998 Volvo V70 - Reliable brick, with proper TLC.
This model is solid and takes a beating without issue, even as it approaches 200,000 miles. The low pressure turbo engine is linear and easy to drive in all conditions. Core systems have been mostly reliable for nearly two decades, though not without some quirks and careful maintenance. The upholstery has aged well, with only dirt and some minor fraying in heavy use areas. Rust is minimal, especially given how much water and road salt it is exposed to.
However, various parts have become brittle with age, resulting in cabin rattles, some of which are difficult to track down and repair. The traction control and antilock brake module has failed a few times over the years, letting the car's powerful brakes lock up all to easily. A few specialty systems have begun to act up from age, including headlight wipers stuck in odd positions and the climate control mixing valves refusing to settle in place, resulting in clacking sounds.
I used it to tow a disabled vehicle out of a dangerous situation when it on the side of a busy rural highway. After a quarter mile, the road shoulder widened enough for them to get safely away from traffic. I was then able to jump start their dead battery so they could make it to a nearby garage.

This car has just the right amount of power to do everything required of it. 190 horsepower and broad torque band is perfect for hauling friends and luggage and small trailers. The engine can hum through traffic and cruise down the highway without effort, but is just small enough to allow revving to full potential to clear the valves on merge ramps. The cabin has ample space for most anything I would need to carry, as well as seating myself and four other adults without too much hassle. It carries on without skipping a beat from the northeast mountains to the southwest desert.

As expected from an older turbocharged vehicle, this car drinks fuel. Even with a special gauge to give me feedback and improve my driving habits, I struggle to get above 17 mpg in the city, and highway cruising at acceptable speeds tops out at 29 mpg. The ride is firm to the point of harsh depending on road conditions and loading, which feels jarring when compared to cards with softer suspension settings. Adding significant weight to the rear evens the handling, but only worsens the fuel economy. Traction control is sluggish and only works below 25 mph, making wheel spin a possibility whe... (more)

The ride is firm to the point of harsh depending on road conditions and loading, which feels jarring when compared to cards with softer suspension settings. Adding significant weight to the rear evens the handling, but only worsens the fuel economy. Traction control is sluggish and only works below 25 mph, making wheel spin a possibility when accelerating in a sharp turn. The nose-heavy design will understeer heavily when traction is limited, made worse by the engine easily overpowering available traction in slick conditions. Vital components have failed, including the traction control and abs module as well as the air injection pump for emissions control, both of which are expensive to replace.
