I owned a 2002 Volvo s60. As a person who really, really dislikes white colored cars, my white Volvo wasn't that bad looking of a car. It had the black trim or accents on the sides that really pulled the look of the car together. It was spacious inside, although I can easily say that as I was always sitting in the drivers seat. I've had many people as passengers in the back seats complain that there was no leg room. I've had to sleep in the back of the car and I believe they had what was called bucket styled seats? But they were really shallow in the middle which made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep in. I wouldn't recommend doing that. And of course since I bought the car used it had its troubles. The computer part of the instrument panel stopped working maybe a month after I had b... (more)
Story
When I was between homes while my apartment was being renovated my boyfriend and I ended up having to sleep in the Volvo for about a week straight. It was a good and bad experience. I sort of wish the seats were more comfortable and roomy but overall it could have been a lot worse in any other car !
Pros
Very spacious in the front. I liked how comfortable the drivers seat was. For it being the most basic of their models it still had a lot of cool features. I had a sunroof in my Volvo which I thoroughly enjoyed. It lasted me quite a while and ran pretty nicely even after buying it used and water damaged. The amount of safety features and airbags it had made me feel super safe while driving it. I also really liked the look and shape of the vehicle. It was also very good on gas
Cons
The backseats were pretty uncomfortable. Not very much leg room in the back. The computer part of the instrument panel stopped working. I don't have too many bad things to say about this car!

I chose this car after test driving similar makes/models, including the BMW 3 series and Audi 4. The Volvo had a much higher quality interior and felt much more spacious. Of the three vehicles, the Volvo and BMW felt similar in power, but the Audi had noticeably less pick-up. Also, the BMW and Volvo had a similar solid feel in their construction. At higher speeds, the Volvo had the strongest acceleration responsiveness. At similar price points, the Volvo also offered more "luxury options," like sun roof, leather seats, heated seats, and wood trim. Technology was similar in all three, but the Volvo had additional safety features, such as their proximity override when something crosses in front of the vehicle. In city driving, I have had the vehicle automatically brake when a dog or chil... (more)
Story
I have driven this car into the mountains during the winter where most other traffic was limited to SUVs. It handles very well in snow and I have always felt safe.
Pros
This is a powerful car with great acceleration. The all-wheel drive feature makes it appealing for cold and snowy climates. It also offers more luxury options than competitors at the same price point.
Cons
While the quality of the leather interior is generally high, the driver's seat has worn visibly and affects the overall appearance of the interior. Also, the lighter/power outlet is awkwardly positioned between the two cup holders.

The car drives very smoothly and relatively quietly. It is a heavier car, which can be felt in the easy manner in which the car handles turns. Even though it has a smaller 4 cylinder engine, it makes up for it with the turbo and accelerates quite quickly. The interior leather is nice and has held up with minimal maintenance. Though I'd prefer a USB hookup for digital music, the car does provide an AV jack that allows for digital music players to be used in the car. The trunk is very spacious, and we have been able to fit a large amount of hiking/camping gear in it on several occasions. The car does a good job through its alert screen in reminding the driver to get regular or special maintenance done. The screens also provide interesting and useful information, such as overall and insta... (more)
Story
Taking the car camping.
Pros
The vehicle handles well for the most part. It gets good gas mileage, is comfortable, and is quiet. The trunk is large.
Cons
The car has a surprisingly small turning radius. Sharp turns are not recommended, and doing a U-turn requires a lot of space. The U-turns require so much space that I usually opt to turn around instead.
