I owned a 2002 Volvo s60. As a person who really, really dislikes white colored cars, my white Volvo wasn't that bad looking of a car. It had the black trim or accents on the sides that really pulled the look of the car together. It was spacious inside, although I can easily say that as I was always sitting in the drivers seat. I've had many people as passengers in the back seats complain that there was no leg room. I've had to sleep in the back of the car and I believe they had what was called bucket styled seats? But they were really shallow in the middle which made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep in. I wouldn't recommend doing that. And of course since I bought the car used it had its troubles. The computer part of the instrument panel stopped working maybe a month after I had b... (more)
Story
When I was between homes while my apartment was being renovated my boyfriend and I ended up having to sleep in the Volvo for about a week straight. It was a good and bad experience. I sort of wish the seats were more comfortable and roomy but overall it could have been a lot worse in any other car !
Pros
Very spacious in the front. I liked how comfortable the drivers seat was. For it being the most basic of their models it still had a lot of cool features. I had a sunroof in my Volvo which I thoroughly enjoyed. It lasted me quite a while and ran pretty nicely even after buying it used and water damaged. The amount of safety features and airbags it had made me feel super safe while driving it. I also really liked the look and shape of the vehicle. It was also very good on gas
Cons
The backseats were pretty uncomfortable. Not very much leg room in the back. The computer part of the instrument panel stopped working. I don't have too many bad things to say about this car!

I chose this car after test driving similar makes/models, including the BMW 3 series and Audi 4. The Volvo had a much higher quality interior and felt much more spacious. Of the three vehicles, the Volvo and BMW felt similar in power, but the Audi had noticeably less pick-up. Also, the BMW and Volvo had a similar solid feel in their construction. At higher speeds, the Volvo had the strongest acceleration responsiveness. At similar price points, the Volvo also offered more "luxury options," like sun roof, leather seats, heated seats, and wood trim. Technology was similar in all three, but the Volvo had additional safety features, such as their proximity override when something crosses in front of the vehicle. In city driving, I have had the vehicle automatically brake when a dog or chil... (more)
Story
I have driven this car into the mountains during the winter where most other traffic was limited to SUVs. It handles very well in snow and I have always felt safe.
Pros
This is a powerful car with great acceleration. The all-wheel drive feature makes it appealing for cold and snowy climates. It also offers more luxury options than competitors at the same price point.
Cons
While the quality of the leather interior is generally high, the driver's seat has worn visibly and affects the overall appearance of the interior. Also, the lighter/power outlet is awkwardly positioned between the two cup holders.

I really enjoy my Volvo 2.5t AWD. It's spacious enough when I need it, small enough to get around comfortably in the city and performs well enough to take me wherever I need to go with no worries. Living in the Pacific Northwest I take this care to the mountain in the winter, the beach in the summer and on gravel and dirt roads when camping and I've never been disappointed in it's performance. The turbo comes in handy for passing, too. The ride is comfortable and I usually get compliments from my back seat passengers when they are surprised how nice it is to take a trip in my car.
Story
Snow! We don't often get a lot of snow in my city, but when we did my sometimes useful AWD Volvo turned into my co-workers hero. I became the car pool driver and nobody had to waste any sick pay because they couldn't get to work. I got my lunch paid for every day that week by my grateful passengers.
Pros
All wheel drive works very well. We got 'a lot' of snow for my location last winter and it was great being able to commute hassle free, the car gives me great peace of mind in inclement weather. Comfortable, reasonably quiet ride. The seats are very comfortable and most people (average height) I have in my car always have leg room. Beautiful but expensive bi-xenon headlights. I seem to get great gas mileage. Seat warmers are great in the winter. Good stock sound system (Bose). Surprisingly spacious cargo space, especially with back seats folded down. I take good care of it and it takes goo... (more)
Cons
Oddly, the wheels tend to rub when I turn too sharply like when parking at a 90 degree. This apparently doesn't bother the tires but it doesn't seem pleasant and therefore finds me opting out of most U-turns. Expensive bi-xenon headlights. A pro and a con because they are great but if you break them, you're going to be out a pretty penny.
