This is my second Volvo. I REALLY liked the first one, and kept it for fifteen years and 200,000+ miles. When it came time to replace the cars in our household, we had to make a decision about what to keep and what to replace. The SUV we had was aging so it needed to go. We decided that something more sporty would be a good thing as we no longer carried piles of sports equipment around. This lead us to search out a fun to drive sedan.

Pros
We opted for the all wheel drive version of the S60 and it has been fun to drive. There is plenty of power with the twin turbos and the gas mileage (regular gas) is not too bad as it gets about 30mpg across our driving range.
Cons
The thing I didn't expect is that getting things into the trunk is somewhat hard. While there is plenty of space, especially when you put the rear seats down, there is a problem. This problem is that there is the support for the roof/rear window that comes down into the trunk a significant amount. This makes it difficult to get anything that is even remotely tall into the space. There is plenty of room before and after this support but putting something large into the space is prevented as you can't get it past this support bar.

The car is an all wheel drive which is critical to our lives as we live in the northeast US. This provides ( well) the ability to go anywhere at any time during bad weather. During the summer months it is sporty and powerful so it fulfills two needs with one car. The creature comforts are good, remote entry, automatic climate control, even safety system that prevents the car from hitting things in front of you automatically. The car senses that something is there and stops by itself. The cost to operate the car is not bad as it uses regular level fuel and gets nearly 30mpg. Maintenance costs are low as nothing has broken that wasn't covered by the factory warrantee. The fit and finish is as you would expect from a car like this.
