I've enjoyed a mixture of reliability and easy maintenance with my Volvo S60. It's definitely a pleasure to drive, and I like the peace of mind having our little one riding in this car. It's not a flashy car—but what it lacks in character, it makes up for in performance, safety and overall value. Aside from the standard maintenance items, I have not had to replace anything significant to date—and we now have over 180,000 miles on the car. We've found ourselves appreciating the AWD capability more than once in the unpredictable New England weather. It has held its own on more than a few occasions where the roads were so poor due to the weather that folks had to pull off to the side—but we were able to carry on—albeit, slowly. Gas mileage still average 30 on the highway and about 21... (more)
Story
We were in the thick of an unpredictable snowstorm that resulted in many folks having to pull over on the highway. We were able to continue on with the AWD. It was slow going and took us an extra hour to get back home—but we made it while seeing many folks stranded off to the side of the road.
Pros
The miles per gallon performance is adequate. We enjoy 30 MPG on the highway and around 21 in the city. For a vehicle this size and year, that's good enough to not go running for a new car. We enjoy the sound system, and the interior cabinet is very quiet. The quality of the leather seating is phenomenal. It has really held up over the years. We regularly condition the leather so that undoubtedly has helped. The comfort of the seats is fantastic. These are ideal when traveling near or far—bucket seating in the front that really is designed to keep your posture and comfort level wel... (more)
Cons
We wish that the car had more space in the center console and glove box. The lack of technology was made up for us accessorizing with a third party Bluetooth for in car conversation, but other luxury lines had this standard in their vehicles. Volvo had an expensive option workaround we did not like. The dealership is friendly and professional, but we find ourselves going to the Indy mechanic we trust for obvious reasons: cost and turnaround. We wish the back seats had a bit more leg room for passengers. Front passenger seat becomes a little cramped when accommodating for a passenger in ... (more)

I own a gun metal grey 2008 Volvo S60. I love the style of the sedan as it flies under the radar in traffic but is sleek and sexy when you really pay attention to it. It also is a very smooth and quiet ride. Living in Minnesota, we have some of the worst roads in the country, and the car's suspension and shock absorbers perform very well. When driving it, it feels like a solid car that won't blow away in the wind. It is also secretly fast and has no issues merging onto the highway with a short ramp. Even though it is fast, it is still a family-style sedan that holds the practicality of a family vehicle making it very versatile. The inside has glazed wooden trim with grey leather seats, which are very comfortable and come equipped with seat warmers. I have put 60,000 miles on the car an... (more)
Story
I live a mile away from a golf course and successfully fit seven of my friends and all of their golf bags in the car.
Pros
It is an extremely reliable car that does not require frequent annoying or costly maintenance. The air conditioning system seems to be more efficient in cooling the car down faster than cars I have owned in the past. The sunroof adds an element of sportiness to the sedan. Heat warmers are a must in the cold climate. Trunk space is more than adequate. Accelerates fast.
Cons
The front headlights are made of a plastic that tends to get a residue on them that fade the lights. If there is a part that needs to be replaced, it costs a little more than a car that is from the U.S.A. It did not come with a GPS.
