I had a Volvo S60 as my second car. It was a hand-me-down from my dad, and it lasted from my last year of high school to my last year of graduate school. It saw me through so much of my life it was hard to say goodbye to it after 12 years. It was a sturdy and dependable car until it wheezed its last. It finally met its end when the costs of repair were more than the value of the car. Even in its last days, it still looked and ran well, much better than you would expect a 12 year old car to work.
Story
It was my car since high school, so it was the car that took me to high school graduation, undergraduate graduation, and finally graduate graduation.
Pros
It had a great engine, it would really get up and move. It was a comfortable sedan, I could always fit all of my friends in comfortably. The trunk was also spacious for carrying my stuff on road trips. The interior was good, and the leather seats held together pretty well over the years. The radio and music system was nice, not life changing but very good.
Cons
The costs of repair were easily the worst thing. It was always difficult to find someone who would work on the car, and it was a guarantee that it would cost an arm a leg and at least one organ. Road trips were fun, but it was a bit of a worry that if something happened, we might end up in a place where no one could work on it (this actually did happen, the car had to be towed an hour and a half away to a large city where one technician could repair the car). Then the technicians where I lived for grad school had the worst customer service, I prayed for the car not to break down just so I ... (more)

The Volvo S60 is a top-notch high-performance luxury sedan. It has a side mount five cylinder with a turbo, and it can get you on the freeway in a hurry. It has a very spacious and comfortable interior along with driver and passenger climate controls. The all-wheel drive feature makes it a year round daily driver and really adds to the safety of the car come wintertime. It has driver and passenger inflatable air bags along with inflatable curtains, known as side impact passenger security or SIPS, above the doors. It has a very large trunk space and can accommodate the biggest of runs to the grocery store. The stereo and sound system are what impressed me most about the interior right away. With a speaker system boasting more than six speakers, you can really feel and get into your musi... (more)
Story
The all-wheel drive absolutely handled a severe flash flood warning. Everyone in the vehicle was impressed.
Pros
It's all-wheel drive. Plenty of legroom front and back. Large trunk space. Very well-shaped car, looks great.
Cons
Large blind spots on both sides. Not the greatest on gas.
