The 2018 GMC Terrain is redesigned with a spacious interior and comfortable seating that fits the whole family. It has a smaller exterior and a more traditional design than the previous model but the suspension has been tuned for a smooth and refined drive. The optional turbo-diesel 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission sets this SUV apart from competitors. Meanwhile, fans of gas engines can choose from either the base 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder or the optional 2.0-liter turbo four.

For the most part, I love my Terrain. It's a base vehicle, and I do miss my heated seats after having a 2016 GMC Terrain SLE-2, but it ended up not being a huge deal at all. The turbo seems to help the car heat up pretty fast in the winter, and it has a bit more pickup than my last regular four cylinder. I am a huge baby when it comes to driving in the snow...AKA I'm absolutely terrified. I won't drive in the snow without 4WD or AWD. The AWD on this Terrain made me feel more safe in otherwise extremely anxious situations. There is a ton of room in this car, although I prefer the room in the previous model as I had a 2016 GMC Terrain SLE-2 AWD before this, and it had more trunk space. The rear seats fold flat, 60/40, and provide a ton of trunk space if you do not have a car full of pass... (more)
    Story
Occasionally, my friend and I go garbage picking (to pick and sell), and one night we had amazing luck. We had so much stuff that we had the trunk full, and then we had to fold one rear seat down and filled that up, folded both seats down and filled it up and even put stuff in the front with us. We had a good portion of our garage sale with things from one car load of stuff. Love the room!
    Pros
Size, rear folding seats, gas mileage, AWD capabilities
    Cons
The start-stop feature is something I hated at first. I got used to it; however, the hesitation after it stops and starts again is still annoying and frustrating. The uncomfortable seats are something I can't deal with for long trips. Smaller gas tank.

It's very smooth and quiet. I live in the mountains of Colorado, and it snows nine months of the year. My Terrain has AWD, and I have never slipped or slid. Handles extremely well. I love the leather seats and Apple Car Play.
    Story
Taking my granddaughters to school. They are eight and ten. There is quite the process in dropping off the kids in the mornings. I was in the wrong line and had to back up into snow. Another grandparent knocked on my window and told me I was about to hit a huge rock. Saved damage and we all had a great laugh.
    Pros
Quiet, handles well on the road, and you don't hear road noise.
    Cons
Apple Car Play doesn't always work.
