The Kia Sorrento continues to be one of the safest SUVs on the road. It is large enough for my needs and small enough to park almost anywhere. I recently passed the 115,000 mark on my Sorrento, and I've only had a couple of problems with it through the years. Overall, I'd say that it is a reliable car. I have the base model that has cloth seats, a CD player, and only A/C vents in the front and, after ten years, my family is just now beginning to outgrow it. Overall, I would highly recommend the Kia Sorrento.
Story
During Hurricane Matthew in North Carolina, my husband and I were driving south of Fayetteville and came upon a truck that got stuck in some mud. My little SUV was able to pull that truck out of the mud with no sweat! I was so proud of my car that day!
Pros
The thing that I like most about my Kia Sorrento is that it is safe and reliable. I have driven it cross country multiple times and never have had an issue. This car is my family's primary road trip car so most of its miles are highway. It has held up very well. The interior is also holding up very well. With two giant breed dogs going on our trips with us, I wouldn't say that we are "easy" on the car. There are no rips or wear on the interior. Cons
My first issue with my Kia Sorrento was the breaks. At 70,000 miles, they completely went out, and I had to have them completely replaced. I've since replaced them two more times. Now, at 115,000 miles, the transmission is going out. As far as every day driving, the length of the seats is too short for long legged people. They hit about six inches behind my knee and cause me pain while driving for long periods. As for passengers, there are no vents in the back. Overall very dependable, I have had no major repairs, and I follow the recommended maintenance. I can't say I have any major complaints as I crossed the 100,000 mile mark. I have only had this car for a year and some months now. This would be my second Kia Sorento. My brother completely destroyed my first Sorento, and he walked away with only a busted knee. The safety features swayed me to buy my second Sorento. The truck can be bouncy, I knew that from my first Sorento. Bought from a rental company with 12,000 miles on it. Interior carpet is flimsy as is the plastic arm rest, speaker covers and inside cover of rear hatch. Recent temperamental cabin fan switch problem which I understand may be a cheap repair. Can't seem to get anyone to remove the roof rack cross bars.
Story
Driving this SUV to sunny Florida with some friends, was awesome. Everyone was able to fit, and we took this puppy to the beach several times out in St. Petersburgh, and stuff the back with a cooler and had a blast.
Pros
The Sorento was a real work horse. Has great ease of driving in all types of weather and road conditions. Multi purpose use for carrying stuff. And the reliability was great, had no major repairs in 100K miles, just brakes, battery and tires.
Cons
Better quality carpet and more durable interior coverings. Change the roof rack design for easy removal of the cross rails. Better quality interior fan switch for A/C.
