Just bought the 2006 Lexus GS300 used. This nine-year-old car feels new, is ultra comfortable and quiet, and has technology that is still cutting edge. This car hugs the road, smooths out bumps, and feels smooth as silk. Despite being a 2006 model, it has power everything, touch start, back-up camera, and Bluetooth! Yes, even though this car predates iPhones and Androids, it still has Bluetooth and pairs w/ my iPhone. It has all the technology that a brand-new 2015 car would have, except for blind spot warning, which isn't necessary because visibility is excellent in the GS300. This nine-year-old Lexus is better than some respectable 2015 cars I tested. The GS300 exceeds my expectations.
Story
I had many great times as I used it to travel state to state early on before any issues came. I used it to drive to the ATL to STL many times. Had a great time with my friends and family.
Pros
Beautiful looks, plenty of leg room (my husband is 6'3" and fits comfortably), well-crafted interior, very comfortable ride, great acceleration, excellent gas mileage, decent technology (car is nine years old!), cassette player for those of us who grew up in the '80s and still have a few tapes, great exterior lighting for entry/exit of vehicle, high safety rating, sport mode, and many more pros that I am probably forgetting. My favorite car before this one was a Nissan Maxima, and it does not hold a candle to this Lexus. I highly recommend this car to anyone who likes a soft, powerful ride... (more)
Cons
The seats need more padding, which they have since improved with the newer models. The driver's side seatbelt rubs the seat to where the molding comes off. It is supposed to be a known problem for the 2006 models.

2006 Lexus GS 300 - This is a great luxury vehicle at an affordable price that is highly reliable and moderate maintenance costs.

This is a great luxury vehicle at an affordable price that is highly reliable with moderate maintenance costs. The car has some level of prestige. The quality for the price is average. The interior dash board seems a little cheap to me as if it was made of some type of plastic or sponge, etc.
Pros
Some of the positive things about the car is that because it is Japanese, it is highly reliable with very little maintenance required. The gas mileage is average for a luxury vehicle. The car has navigation, Bluetooth, heated and cooled seats, rear window shade and upgraded sound system. Plus, the cost of maintenance is nominal given the type of car.
Cons
For the same price, other cars look better. For example, if I had to choose between a new Lexus GS or the equivalent Mercedes (probably an E - Class), I prefer the Mercedes. In a nut shell, for the price paid, the car does not look as luxurious as maybe it should. In addition, the power is not very strong nor is the car as responsive as a German car. The car sometime feels like being in a boat because of the looser suspension as compared to a German car for example. When the car is serviced and the battery gets disconnected, sometimes some of the windows do not work. There is also a tea... (more)
