2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse - Love this car, though it does have issues
I have owned six previous cars in my life, and this is my favorite of them all. It does have problems and maintenance has been fairly expensive, but it makes up for it in being a smooth and comfortable ride.
Story
I enjoy this car so much that I extended my commute to a longer route along the beach because it was such a comfortable ride... It was nice to be able to see the ocean during my drive in the kind of comfort that the Eclipse gives.
Pros
My overall favorite feature of this car is its overall comfort. I have an injured back, and most cars that I drive cause it to hurt after an hour or so. The Eclipse allows me to drive comfortably all day when I need to without pain. The A/C is cold for hot summer days.
Cons
Overall, this is a rather expensive car to own. Because it rides so low to the ground, deep puddles can be an issue. In addition, it requires premium gasoline, otherwise the engine knocks badly. Driving is very smooth, but it also makes very wide turns, so things like navigating in a parking lot are more difficult than they should be.
2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse - The little Eclipse that could
I put a lot of thought into purchasing this Eclipse back in the day. It was hot! But the advantage I saw to it was being able to upgrade it to include a turbo. It was quite the work to do so myself, but overall, it was so worth it. Everyone expected it to blow up. It didn't. I took good care of it, and she lasted longer than any other vehicle.
Story
I used to spend loads and loads of time traveling the streets of Cocoa Beach, racing people anyone that was willing, especially at a red light. I would rev it up and launch on green. Only got caught once!
Pros
Comfortable. At the time, I was younger and found it to be far more comfortable than some of the other vehicles. Even the back seat was comfortable, which both folded down so my bass speakers could do their job.
Cons
I did find that it went through tires a little more than I would have expected, part of that it likely to how I drove it though. Also, I'm certain the turbo didn't help save the tires any at all!
