2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse - Don't bother with an Eclipse
The Eclipse is a slightly-unattractive "sports" car for teens and adults who have not purchased a new car since they bought/received it as a teen. The major problem with this car is that it's so low to the ground. I'm fairly tall and have such a hard time getting out of the car. Do not buy if you're tall! You'll look like the Mr. Incredible in that blue car. However, in spite of the flaw of the height, the price is so low that it compliments the overall attractiveness of this car.
Story
I once got flipped off by an old lady parking near her Lexus. I pulled into the parking lot at the mall, and as I pulled up she leaned over - rolled down her window - and stuck her hand out. As I looked up, I turned over to see what she suggesting. In the back my head, I couldn't believe this was happening. I just pulled up. Then she proceeded to unfold her third finger on her left hand - I wa... (more)
Pros
The car will go from 0-60 in a reasonable amount of time. It will come to a complete stop once the brakes are applied. All the lights, interior and exterior, are functional and allow for a lighted path.
Cons
If the police have a quota to meet for the month - you should park the Eclipse and don't drive it until the beginning of the next month. Consider riding the bus or renting a scooter. Also, try and drive this very early in the morning and very late at night so people don't have to see you drive this during the daylight.
2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse - Mostly great and a lot of fun
This car is a lot of fun to drive. I've had it for a little over two years now, and I still get a rush out of really pushing down the gas pedal and feeling the acceleration. I really like when I feel the MIVEC kick in, and the car really gets going. It has a solid build. It feels solid. It doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart or shatter into pieces if I hit a pot hole. There are some minor bugs that need fixing every now and then. The A/C unit only works on certain fan settings, and there is an issue with the ABS (which is a known issue Mitsubishi is trying to fix), but overall it's my favorite car that I've owned.
Story
Driving past East High School with my windows down playing '90s rap music really loud. A bunch of people were staring at us and we probably looked like total losers but we laughed and laughed.
Pros
I love the look of the car. I get a lot of compliments on it, and people turn their head to look at it a lot. It's not a common car, and it stands out. I like how it handles, and I really enjoy the acceleration when I really give it gas. It has a surprising amount of space in the trunk, and I've been able to move a lot of things I wouldn't think would fit in it. It also has a great sound system with deep bass.
Cons
The A/C unit doesn't work on all fan settings, and on hot days that can get pretty annoying. While the sound system is great, the subwoofer in the trunk is in a bad spot and takes up room that could be used to haul things. If it were moved to a different spot in the trunk or had a different shape, it would really make the trunk spacious. It can also be a little tricky getting in and out sometimes with how low it rides. I'm used to it now, but passengers have a hard time sometimes, and the back seat isn't very spacious.
