I purchased a used 2005 Nissan Murano in 2008. I loved the styling of it (sleek, but still rugged looking). I wanted a car that could haul a lot of gear and still feel like a daily driver I could take on errands. This certainly fit the bill. The back seats splits 60/40 and folds down on either (or both) sides. The back was large enough for a jogging stroller or a load of groceries on its own, but once you folded the back seat down you could fit a disassembled armchair. (I know, because we did.) The ride quality was smooth, and the car itself was very quiet, even at highway speeds. The six-way drivers' side seat adjustment made for a very comfortable seat, and we often took this car on longer trips instead of a more economical Prius, but because it was so much more comfortable. The AWD... (more)
Story
This vehicle served as a very comfortable road trip car from Colorado, through Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota (hello, Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead!), Wyoming and back down to Colorado one summer. Two adults and one 7-year-old were very comfortable and safe though the entire trip.
Pros
The top positives about this vehicle are the super-fine adjustability of the drivers' side seat and the comfort of the ride. It is also very responsive on the road, and you don't feel like you're driving a big hulking SUV, yet you have most of the cargo capacity (and all of the AWD) of an SUV. It's much easier to get in and out of parking spots than a larger SUV. It's the perfect crossover vehicle in these ways.
Cons
The top negative thing about this vehicle is the gas mileage during city driving. 16 Mpg or less is terrible when other cars in this class can reach into the low-to-mid 20 mpg range. Nissan needs to improve this to make it a viable option as gas prices keep heading up.

As I said, this is my favorite car. I love the size of the Murano, the five-door design, the feel of being in a big car but at the same time, very manageable. The car has been good in terms of repair. Never had a vital problem, only regular maintenance, until now, anyways, now it's old and needs some work. One of the best things is that I always have big dogs and the trunk is perfect for them. This was my first car with sunroof window and I love it.
Story
This is not fun, but the memory that comes to mind is taking my dog to the vet for a series of daily shots. She was a big dog, and the height and the fifth door of the car made this time a lot easier.
Pros
The first thing that comes to my mind is the brand. Nissan is a reliable manufacturer, and we have enjoy another Nissan for many years also. Second, the size of the car, being one of the first crossovers, was an innovative design.
Cons
I would have to say first the door lock electric system has been failing since the beginning. I tried to have it fixed, but they never really made it better. Another con is the paint. My car is black, and the paint has peeled off sooner that expected. The visors are an issue also, they don't stay put and keep falling. Funny that I had the same problem with my other Nissan.
