I like my Scion xB. It's a low gas mileage grocery-getter that fits me and my family. While it is small, everyone is often amazed at how much room there is inside. I've only had a few issues with it. The trunk handle is flawed, and mine broke. And the auxiliary plug hasn't worked since I got it. However, it's got a great Pioneer stereo and nothing essential has ever worn out or broken. It's survived a lot of road trips and even a few off-road adventures. It sits very low to the ground, though, so I have to watch out for slopes and scraping the bumper. There's not a lot of storage, but what it does have is sufficient. It also has amazing traction. It’s really good in the snow. My husband even calls it the “snow beast.” Overall, it’s been a nice addition to the family. And everyone who’s... (more)
Story
We took the car out onto a little dirt path and followed it out to a secret spot on the river to go fishing. My friend's truck got stuck trying to leave, but the Scion took off without a problem!
Pros
The Pioneer stereo is great. The traction is good even in adverse weather like rain or snow. It's great on gas, and costs very little to go on road trips. It fits my family of 4 with extra room. It can tow remarkably well for its small size. It's got great reaction time. It's compact. The storage is sufficient. I enjoy the extra cup holder in the center console. It's a pretty smooth ride with great traction control. It's good for some really light off road adventures. The safety ratings are pretty good. I really like the large display for the dash. The box design is cool looking. There’s e... (more)
Cons
The back handle for the trunk storage is flawed, and mine has broken. The auxiliary plug does not work, which means no using my iPod for music. It does get made fun of sometimes. People sometimes call it the clown car or the box mobile. While the storage is sufficient, it would be better if it had more. It would also be cool if the back window accessed the trunk section. The driver and passenger mirrors are tiny. While my family of four fits comfortably, putting anyone else in the backseat is practically impossible. It has no cruise control, and adding one voids the manufacturer’s warranty... (more)

I really liked this car! It was compact and easy to drive, while also fitting five people and luggage. Fuel economy was excellent for its time, and the car was quick while still being fuel efficient. The back seats could fold down, and also the front passenger seat, so that there was plenty of carrying capacity for stuff as well. The fit and trim inside were good enough, but were minimal. The real quality was in the engine and mechanics. During the entire time I owned the car, there was very little maintenance or repairs that had to be done to the vehicle. Overall, I would say this car is a great fit for a young person living in a city.
Story
This was a great vehicle for going to garage sales, as it could park easily in most areas, while also having plenty of room for whatever I might find.
Pros
Some of the pros for this vehicle include fuel economy, roomy interior, modern exterior styling, low maintenance, and enjoyable drive. At 36 MPG this vehicle was well above average for most cars produced in 2005. While having a relatively small engine, the car was geared to provide quick response and acceleration on the highway. The spacious interior gave much more room compared to most compact cars and provided the driver and passengers with plenty of headroom, as well as room for cargo. Some people questioned the styling, but I think the look was an excellent blend of form and function. ... (more)
Cons
While there were few things I could think of as cons for the XB, a couple come to mind. One way of giving consumers an affordable vehicle was for Toyota to have very limited sound proofing and fit and finish on the interior trim. This led to the experience for the driver and passengers to be a bit noisy and didn't give a luxury feel while driving. Also because it was a vehicle aimed at a younger audience, the suspension was designed to be a bit stiffer, giving increased handling but also leading to more bumps and road vibrations.
