Right away, I liked the quirky appearance of this vehicle. A friend even dubbed it "The Toaster." It's sort of a car but looks like a mini SUV and is technically a van. It has a hatchback open cargo area. I wanted a black one but ended up with "sizzling crimson mica," which is a dark purplish red. I also test drove a Scion car (CRV I think?), and even though it was similar in price and gas mileage (and they told me drive train too), the car seemed lesser in comfort and pep than the xB. This vehicle is so fun to drive, a true pleasure.
Story
I used it to move to Chicago from Michigan, several trips back and forth. I was always amazed at just how much I could fit in it, especially when I folded the back seats down. As a painter, the square cargo area, with access from the hatchback, was a prime attracting feature. I wanted to be able to stack large paintings in the back as if they were large boxes.
Pros
First of all, you sit up higher than in a car, so you have a fantastic view of the road and all around you, and the large, relatively vertical windshield allows a picture-window like feeling of looking out. Both front and back seats are sooo comfortable, especially on long rides. Lots of cup holders too. The display gauges are grouped well too, easy to see and manage while driving. Plus I love that it's an automatic on the floor (or maybe technically between the dash and the floor). Good gas mileage and surprisingly great in the snow. I've driven it through a few Michigan winters. It's als... (more)
Cons
The only thing I don't like is how low the front bumper is to the ground. It makes me concerned that I'm going to scrape it on snow banks or parking beams. Also, if I don't let it warm up enough, and the temperature is in the single digits, the transmission is a little sluggish to shift into the next gear when getting on the expressway.

While searching for new car, I was flummoxed. I searched for something that would work well for commuting as well as in-town driving. I found it in the Scion xB. It is comfortable enough for four well sized adults to ride in for long periods of time, which makes it the greatest road trip car. My disabled mother and sister ride easily in it with enough storage in the trunk for my mothers' walker and oxygen tanks. In terms of the gas efficiency, it is very good for the size, and I only have to fill it up once a week, twice at most.
Story
A fun story I have is being able to go to the beach with my sister and best friend. Before this car, my former car was unreliable and did not allow for road trips. Now we can zoom anywhere.
Pros
My favorite features include as mentioned, the generously sized seats, for those of larger size. The gas efficiency is a great thing as well. When on road trips it is great for ease of travel. Overall the best vehicle out on the market. Another thing that I absolutely love is the cruise control, when I'm commuting it makes it easy to coast home without there being any issues.
Cons
The few negative things about this vehicle are that there aren't cooling vents in the back seat, so when its very hot out its hard for the passengers in the back to stay as cool. Another thing is the cost of new parts.
